Abby Luvera | Vet Tech
School of Arts & Sciences

Abby Luvera was set up for career success with the education she received in 魅影直播 State鈥檚 veterinary technology program.
鈥滣扔爸辈 is the best place that you can start. You get such a good well-rounded education. You are set for success to pass the exam, and you have such good hands-on experience when you come out that you are ready.鈥
Abby uses what she learned daily as an oncology-licensed veterinary technician at Upstate Veterinary Specialties. 鈥淲hen I entered the real world and got my real adult job, I had gotten to do everything at least one time. It really set me up for success to learn and be the best that I could be.鈥
Preceptorship opportunities during her college career allowed Abby to start right away after graduation. 鈥淚 had a one-week break in between graduation and starting. They hired me before I was done with my last semester at school. I had it all lined up and had a stress-free last semester.鈥
Abby comes back to share her 魅影直播 State experiences with current students and recruit new employees. 鈥淲e love 魅影直播 State graduates. They are ready to go and ready to learn. We want to introduce the opportunities they could have with our organization.鈥
Grace Strauss | Radiologic Tech
School of Arts & Sciences

Grace Strauss (Fallsburg, NY) did not find satisfaction in the career that she initially pursued but has found her studies in radiologic technology at 魅影直播 State igniting a passion to help others in the healthcare field.
Grace earned a degree in early childhood studies from another college but still had the desire to work in healthcare. 鈥淚 graduated and got into the field, and I just really had that passion for healthcare. I decided it was now or never if I was going to change.鈥
That desire led her to 魅影直播 State where she was drawn to the area and the small class sizes. 鈥滣扔爸辈 gave that small town feel and I just really wanted to go somewhere with limited numbers in classes and a place it would feel like a family within the classroom.鈥
Getting hands-on right away has been key to Grace, 鈥淚 have loved getting to go to clinicals right off the bat and not having to wait. Having our live labs has been great in helping understand the material.鈥
Grace feels supported by her classmates and her professors. 鈥淭he professors have all been helpful and kind. They are not sitting there telling you to figure it out on your own. They are willing to give you that extra support and go the extra mile to help you in and out of the classroom.鈥
The number of opportunities in the field excites Grace. 鈥淵ou can go into so many different modalities and just keep training on the job. There's also great job availability after (you graduate) so you will never have to worry about job security.鈥
Outside the classroom, Grace loves the scenery. 鈥淚 really love the seasons changing and the environment around the college. Everyone is super friendly.鈥
Grace is glad she found her perfect fit at 魅影直播 State.
Samuel Robinson | Digital Media & Animation
School of Architecture, Management, & Engineering Tech

Samuel Robinson (Kingston, Jamaica) has found his home at 魅影直播 State. He joined his brother at the college and followed his creative passion by transferring to the digital media and animation program.
鈥淢y brother graduated from high school and was looking at colleges and I was not that passionate about what I was studying in civil engineering at another school. My dad pitched the idea of us going to college together. I was elated for the idea.鈥
When transferring to 魅影直播, Samuel decided to pursue his creative side. 鈥淚 like the idea of motion, and I like creating things. I have always liked making videos and drawing art so digital media was just that hub that encompassed everything.鈥
Samuel likes the wide range of topics and skills he is being taught. 鈥淵ou learn so much. It makes it easy to identify the things you like and put together your own style. That is what I really love about the digital media program.鈥
Outside the classroom, Samuel keeps himself busy creating content for social media channels for Bandwagon, a student content creation club, and for the college鈥檚 marketing department. You can find him at a wide variety of campus events and on various social media channels.
Through his classes and his extracurricular activities, Samuel has flourished in 魅影直播鈥檚 tightly knit community. 鈥淎t the bigger college I attended I had a small group of friends. Even though this is a smaller college I have been able to connect with everybody. You end up expanding to have a great network of friends who help you and want the best for you.
Samuel has found his passion and has really come to love 魅影直播 State.
Tara Smith | Architecture & Business Management
School of Architecture, Management, & Engineering Tech

Tara Smith uses the skills and knowledge she learned at 魅影直播 State daily. She earned both an associate degree in architecture and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in construction management at ASC and currently is an Assistant Director in the Claims and Cost Review Department for the New York State Office of General Services.
鈥淚 touch many aspects of construction which requires knowledge of pretty much every facet of construction. I am involved with projects from the time that they bid to the time that they are completed. Without my degrees from 魅影直播, I would not have that foundation.鈥
鈥淢y favorite part of my job is the analytical part. I am a problem solver. I like to think and dive into the details to come up with resolutions.鈥
Estimating skills led to Tara鈥檚 first job and connections to Western New York and fellow 魅影直播 State graduates led her to her current job.
鈥淚 was recruited to the Buffalo office because the supervisor at the time knew where I came from and where I graduated from. She knew the work ethic that came out of graduates of 魅影直播 State.鈥
Tara and her department continue to recruit 魅影直播 State students. 鈥淭he program is ACCE accredited so that gives graduates a leg up in the industry. The students are well-rounded and have a great base of knowledge going into the industry.鈥
Jack LaRouech | Building Trades: Building Construction
School of Applied Tech

Jack LaRouech (East Aurora, NY) took building trades classes in high school but wanted to expand his knowledge. He has enjoyed growing his skills as a building trades: building construction major at 魅影直播 State.
鈥淚 took BOCES during high school and I wanted to get a bigger version of it and get to see every part of it. I have always had a heart for construction. I did mission trips growing up and we started by building decks and re-doing houses.鈥
After learning in the classroom in lectures, Jack likes going immediately to the job site. 鈥淵ou are able to get hands-on. You are either going to a house or to other projects. You are always staying busy, which is nice because on a job site, you are going to be busy.鈥
The professors have added to his experience. 鈥淢y professors have so much knowledge in different areas. They have so much information and knowledge to share with you.鈥
Jack has enjoyed working on the house projects that students on the Wellsville campus take part in yearly. 鈥淢y favorite experience is being able to see what you are building go from ground level or basement straight to framing into a house.鈥
The experience he is gaining excites Jack. 鈥淚t is a really good education. You build so much experience here and just having 魅影直播 State on your resume is big. It is two years, but you get a lot of education and knowledge in two years.鈥
ack is excited to take what he has learned and build his own company, work in a union, or a major company. He is even considering working on a second degree at 魅影直播.
鈥淚 have enjoyed 魅影直播 so much; I have been deeply considering doing a 2+2 program and either getting a construction management or supervision degree. If I get the business knowledge and skills it will help me towards owning my own business.鈥
Outside the classroom, Jack keeps himself busy by serving as a campus ambassador, being involved in the camping/hiking club, and enjoying the camaraderie of his brothers in the Gamma Theta Gamma fraternity. 鈥淚 have always enjoyed staying involved. I love being up and doing something.鈥
魅影直播 State has helped Jack construct a path for a career he is excited about.
Trevor Griffin | Motorsports
School of Applied Tech

Trevor Griffin has started his career in the fast lane. The 魅影直播 State motorsports graduate works for TPC racing as one of their fly-in mechanics for a Super Trofeo program, a Porsche Sprint Challenge, and a newly established SRO program with McLaren.
Trevor is still connected to the program and wants to help future students get opportunities. 鈥淭here is so much love for this program. I would not be where I am at today without this program.鈥
Learning hands-on and getting real-life experience was key to Trevor. 鈥淗ere you can put hands-on and learn things that you would not learn unless you actually physically do it. The professors here have a great connection with American Endurance Racing. It allows students to go pit marshal.鈥
An opportunity to pit marshal accelerated Trevor鈥檚 career path. 鈥淚 volunteered at an endurance race, and I absolutely fell in love. A month later via our connections I worked for my first ever race at New Jersey Motorsports Park.鈥
It snowballed from there and he worked races across the Northeast traveling to tracks in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, and closer to home at Watkins Glen. During his senior year at school, he worked at eighty percent of tracks in North America.
鈥淒uring that time, I was being paid on the weekends by these teams. My experience and the trust with these teams grew. I am fortunate and lucky that I have the opportunities that I have gotten.鈥
Opportunities continued to cross his path and forced him to make a difficult decision. 鈥淚 was given the opportunity to go to Laguna Seca for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series with my team on graduation day. When all my classmates were walking, I was on pit lane with my car watching it roll out for race one.鈥
鈥淏eing able to come off this program and work right away is honestly a great feeling.鈥
Trevor enjoys seeing his 魅影直播 State classmates out on the circuit. 鈥淩acing is a small world. Everyone knows everybody and the fact that I get to see people that I graduated with doing great things is awesome.鈥
Trevor is excited for his future and the future of the motorsports program at 魅影直播 State.
