Dr. Robert CurryDr. Robert Curry has been appointed dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at 魅影直播 State, effective July 1. 鈥淲e are extremely pleased to have someone of Dr. Curry鈥檚 caliber in this position," said Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs Craig Clark. "Bob鈥檚 time at 魅影直播 State has prepared him well for the challenges of a dean鈥檚 responsibilities. His dedication to teaching and learning will be a tremendous asset to us and will unquestionably enhance the educational opportunities available to our students."

Curry joined the 魅影直播 State faculty in 2004 and served as department chair for English and Humanities from 2008-2013, and as interim dean of the School of Arts and Sciences in 2013-2014. He is New York鈥檚 higher education representative to the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and serves on PARCC鈥檚 Core Leadership Review Committee and New York鈥檚 English Language Arts Content Advisory Panel鈥攇roups that guide development of state and national Common Core-aligned assessments. He has also worked on Common Core-aligned standards and assessment projects for the U.S. Department of Education and with the GED Testing Service. His other scholarly interests include technology and education, competency-based education, and the study of literature and environment.

As dean, Curry is responsible for leading more than 70 faculty and staff. The school, with an annual budget of about $3 million, includes seven departments (Agriculture and Veterinary Technology, English and Humanities, Mathematics/Physics, Nursing, Physical and Life Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the Student Success Center) offering 19 programs to more than 1,250 students.

Curry holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Connecticut; a master鈥檚 in English from California State University, Chico; and a bachelor鈥檚 in creative writing and comparative literature from San Francisco State University.
