��Ӱֱ�� State has been authorized to establish a student chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). The new student organization will debut on the Wellsville campus this year and will distinguish ��Ӱֱ�� State as one of only 26 educational organizations in the country that operates a student-led chapter of the NECA organization.

NECA, a widely recognized professional organization representing the electrical construction industry, is focused on alleviating a critical managerial shortfall that is emerging in the industry. According to the organization, as the market for electrical contracting services expands in diverse directions, finding capable managers to oversee current projects and plan for future growth is becoming challenging for many contractors.

“With a NECA chapter on campus, our electrical construction and maintenance electrician students will be able to network directly with industry professionals,” said ��Ӱֱ�� State’s Craig Clark, Executive Director of the Wellsville Campus and Dean of the School of Applied Technology.

Clark attributes the creation of ��Ӱֱ��’s NECA chapter to the College’s affiliation with influential industry leaders including Rochester-based Aaron Hilger, President of the Builders Exchange and Chalisse R. Sharp, NECA’s Executive Director.

“Meaningful connections with industry leaders, is just one of the ways we prepare students to meet and exceed industry standards,” said Clark, adding, “it is also one of the reasons why ��Ӱֱ�� State can boast a 99 percent placement rate.”
