About 150 professionals are expected when 魅影直播 State College hosts the fourth annual Conference on Aging, Tuesday, March 18, from 8 a.m-4 p.m.
Rose Marie Fagan, outreach coordinator, The Pioneer Network, the morning's keynote speaker, will discuss pioneering approaches to change the culture of aging from the traditional nursing facilities to a culture that is life affirming, satisfying, humane, and meaningful.聽 Participants will learn new ways of de-institutionalizing services and individualizing care across the aging services spectrum.
In the afternoon, Dr. Bruce Baum, an internationally recognized speaker on humor, teamwork, and creative problem solving, will present "Laugh Harder, Live Longer: Coping with Stress through Humor."聽 Baum, a professor in the Exceptional Education Department at Buffalo State College, will help participants enhance their sense of humor to aid in team building, optimism, interpersonal interactions, and the prevention of stress and burnout.
Additional sessions for the day include "Recognizing Ageism, Raising Awareness," presented by Dr. Danielle Gagne, assistant professor, Department of Psychology, 魅影直播 University; "The Impact of Aging on Health Workforce Supply and Demand," Jean Moore, MS, director, Center for Health Workforce Studies, SUNY School of Public Health; "Alcohol, Substance Abuse and the Senior Population," by Ann Weaver, community educator, Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Inc.; "Cracking Down on Health Fraud," Diana D. Monaco, RD, CDN, FDA, public affairs specialist, Food and Drug Administration-NY District; "Determining Legal Capacity in the Senior Population," Honorable Thomas P. Brown, County, Family, and Surrogate Court Judge, NYS Unified Court System, 8th Judicial District; "Transitional Life Care Team Model," Nancy Fran, manager, Medical Social Work and Dr. James Hayes, medical director, United Health Services, Binghamton.
