Beginning at 11 a.m., the campus community will dedicate a "centennial bench" overlooking the academic quad.聽 Speakers representing a variety of constituencies will make remarks on the college, its history, and its future, including College President Dr. John M. Anderson, ASC College President Emeritus, Dr. William D. Rezak, NYS Sen. Catharine Young (R-Olean), and Gail Boorman, '69, who will speak in her role as Alumni Association President.
Immediately following the dedication, the location for an 魅影直播 State College time capsule will be marked for later burial.聽 The contents of the capsule, which include a current year book, history books The First Sixty Yearsby Elaine Hritz, and the centennial book Celebrating the Past 100 Years:聽 魅影直播 State College, 1908-2008, by a variety of authors, as well as an 魅影直播 Sun, and other items will be on display.
Birthday cake will be served, weather permitting, in Alumni Plaza, located at the campus bell tower.
Tours of the college farm and academic showcases will be available for public viewing from 1-4 p.m.聽 The evening will be capped off with a fireworks display.
What is today the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Technology at 魅影直播 was born in 1908 when NYS Gov. Charles Evans Hughes signed a bill creating "The NYS School of Agriculture at 魅影直播 University."
The first class of 10 women and 36 men entered in the fall of 1909; they were taught by a faculty of four in facilities housed on the 魅影直播 University campus.
In 1948, the College was incorporated into the newly organized SUNY system.聽 A tremendous construction flurry took place in the 1960s, when many of the buildings on our current campus were erected.
The college passed another milestone in October 1966 when the vocational campus was established in nearby Wellsville.聽 The first of its kind within SUNY, it was designed to fill the gap that existed in post-secondary vocational education.
魅影直播 State College today offers outstanding educational opportunities for students in nearly 60 associate degree, 16 baccalaureate degree, and several certificate programs.
The college has grown throughout the years, in infrastructure and in programming, but its trademark "learning-by-doing" methods have been its hallmark of excellence since its inception.
The College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
