In the opener, Andrew Foster (Clarkson, Ont.) and Jeff Benchich (Millbrook) combined to toss a one-hitter.聽 Foster allowed one hit while striking out five in four innings to improve to 2-0 on the season while Benchich struck out three in three innings of work to earn the save.
Kenny O'Brien (Norwalk, CT) led the offense with a 3 for 4 day.聽 He scored two runs and drove in one.聽 Derek Speaker (Starpoint), Kevin Underhill (Somers), and Jeff Paul (Horseheads) each collected two hits.聽 Paul added two RBI.
ASC scored two runs in the 3rd and 4th innings and put the game out of reach with four runs in the 5th inning.
Adalberto Vargas (Norman Thomas) was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and 3 RBI to lead the Pios to a game two victory.聽 O'Brien chipped in 2 RBI and Speaker scored twice.聽 ASC broke a 2-2 tie with a four run 5th inning.
Sam Wood (Campbell Savona) allowed just one hit in 2.1 innings of work to earn the victory while Aarol Elliott (Whitesville) tossed the final two innings to perserve the win.
The current Pioneers will take on former Pioneers tomorrow afternoon in the annual alumni game.聽 First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.聽 ASC returns to WNYAC action next Saturday when they travel to Monroe CC for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
