÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's outdoor track and field team finished as the Region III runner-up at this weekend's Region III Championships held at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State.  The Pioneers scored 160 points and finished 35.5 points behind Region III Champion SUNY Cobleskill.

The Pioneers went 1-2-3 in the men's pole vault.  Broncho Rollins (Ithaca) won with a vault of 4.38 m.  Alex Curran (Williamson) jumped 4.08 m. and Dan Reynolds (Wayland Cohocton) was 3rd with 3.63 m.

Keenan Hall (Monticello) was the only other Pioneer to win an individual championship.  He won the discus with a toss of 36.43.  He also finished 2nd in the shot put (11.73).

Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) was 2nd in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:03.28) and 5th in the 1500 (4:15.93).  Reynolds was 2nd in the high jump (1.78 m).  Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili) was 3rd in the 110 hurdles (15.57).  Cedric Crowder (Gates Chili) was 3rd in the shot put (11.60 m) and 4th in the 110 hurdles (16.08).  Alvin Flemming (Eastridge was 3rd in the 100 (11.24).

Hector Cuero (Middletow) was 4th in the 800 (1:58.44), Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) was 5th in the 200 (22.88), 5th in the 100 (11.43), and 6th in the discus (33.62 m), and Ken Pixley (Bainbridge Guilford) was 6th in the 400 (52.30).

The 4 x 100 relay team of Flemming, Geoffrey Kobuszewski (Solvay), Justin Kopta (Clymer), and Fabiny finished 2nd in 43.40 while the 4 x 400 relay team of Pixley, Brian Zintel (Letchworth), Kobuszewski, and Cuero finished 3rd (3:29.83).

Cobleskill won the men's competition for the first time since 1970 with 195.5 points.  ASC had 160 points followed by Delhi (147), Erie CC (64), Mohawk Valley CC (40), Finger Lakes CC (36), and Herkimer CCC (33.5).

ASC will travel to the NJCAA Division III Championships on Thursday for the three-day competition.
