The 魅影直播 State College men's cross country team won their own invitational as they opened up the 2008 season.聽 魅影直播 State's John Sweeney (Barker) won the men's race while Lady Pioneer Ashley Fung (Greenwich) won the women's race.聽

In the men's 8K race, 魅影直播 State scored 34 points, Broome CC finished with 52 points, Belmont Abbey College finished 3rd (63), and Finger Lakes CC finished 4th (80).聽 Erie CC did not field a full team.

Sweeney finished fifteen seconds ahead of Jeff Smith from Broome CC with a run of 30:57.94.聽 Adam McDevitt (Fabius Pompey) finished 6th (31:49.85), Corey Smith (Wallkill) finished 8th (32:17.83), Logan Drummer (Pioneer) finished 10th (32:42.18), and Peter Francia (Greece Olympia) was 12th (33:00.96).

In the women's 5K race, Fung won by nearly 19 seconds with a run of 22:43.51.聽 Colleen Hurtubise (Williamsville) finished 11th (25:49.78), Maria Wilson (Addison) was 14th (26:40.59), and Bridget McMahon (Avoca) finished 19th (28:24.44) to round out the Lady Pioneers runners.

Broome CC won the women's race with a score of 37 followed by Belmont Abbey College finished 2nd (40), and Finger Lakes CC was 3rd (44). 聽ASC and Erie CC did not field complete teams.

The Pioneers return to action next Friday when they compete in the Finger Lakes CC Bruce Bridgeman Invitational.
