Gene Doorley, 魅影直播 State College head volleyball coach, has been named the 2006 NJCAA Region III Division III coach of the year.聽 This honor was voted on by the coaches in Region III.
Doorley led聽his team聽to the best season in school history since ASC won the Region III Championship in 1977.聽 The Blue and Gold were ranked as high as #5 in聽the NJCAA Division III poll聽as they finished the campaign with a 32-3 record (30-2 in Region III Division III play).
魅影直播聽began their season with聽22 consecutive wins including tournament championships at Corning CC, Mohawk Valley CC, and Jefferson CC.聽 After suffering their first loss the Lady Pioneers bounced back to win the championship crown at the 魅影直播 State Tournament.
For their outstanding play in the regular season A-State earned the #1 seed in the Region III Division III Tournament.聽 At Regionals the Blue and Gold went 3-0 in pool play and won their semifinal match to advance to the finals.聽 ASC missed going to the NJCAA Division III National Championship by two games as they fell 3-1 in the Regional Final.
Doorley is currently 70-49 (.588 winning percentage) in his four years as head coach of the volleyball program.聽 He has led ASC to three straight trips to the Region III Division III Tournament after the program had not made regionals since the early 1990s.聽聽聽聽
