魅影直播 State College athletic director Kathy Feldman聽received the NJCAA George E. Killian Award of Excellence at the National Meetings held in Colorado Springs, CO.聽 Feldman and Brian Farrell聽from CC of Baltimore County received the聽award聽given聽out annually to a Regional Director, Coaches Association President, Presidential Representative or Officer who聽is dedicated to the聽ideals of volunteerism, achievement, service, leadership and excellence as exemplified by the namesake of this award.
Feldman was hired at 魅影直播 State College in 1980 as a Physical Education Instructor and Head Softball and Volleyball Coach. Feldman has been involved with the NJCAA since 1984 when she was elected to the position of Assistant Women's Region聽III Director. In 1987 she moved into the Region聽III director's position and has held that for 19 of the last 21 years. She has served as the chair of women's lacrosse committee and the division I, II and III volleyball committees. Feldman has also served as a member of several other NJCAA committees, including division III softball, Division I & III women's soccer, bowling, eligibility and championship events.
During her 15 year tenure at the helm of the volleyball team she compiled a 279-252 overall record and was selected the Region III Coach of the Year in 1993. Her other contributions to the sport of volleyball include: representing the NJCAA on the NAGWS Volleyball Rules Committee and the USA Volleyball Board of Directors along with a 16-year stint as a volleyball official. For her service with USA Volleyball she was presented with the USA Volleyball Outstanding Service Award in 1996.
At 魅影直播, Feldman also oversaw the Fitness Center and was Coordinator of Physical Education for the college from 1990-1995. She was named Director of Athletics at 魅影直播 State in 1995, a position she currently holds. She oversees 18 intercollegiate sports, Physical Education, Fitness Center and Intramurals. Expansion and enhancement of the athletic facilities has been a priority for Feldman. In her tenure the fitness center, gymnasium and athletic training room have been refurbished; new baseball/softball fields and practice fields were constructed. In 2007 an outdoor turf athletic game complex was completed.
In 2001 Feldman received the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service and in 2004-2005 she was selected by her peers to receive the NJCAA Region聽III Athletic Director of the Year Award. At the 2006 NJCAA Annual Meeting she received the NJCAA Loyalty Award which is presented to an active Athletic Director at a member college who has worked to uphold the ideals of the NJCAA both on the field of play and in the classroom. Feldman's most recent honor was the 2006 induction into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
"Kathy epitomizes the requirements of the George E. Killian Award of Excellence," said NJCAA Executive Director Wayne Baker. "She has been committed to the NJCAA and its mission, always working for the betterment of the student-athlete and always going above and beyond what is expected of her. Choosing Kathy for this award was an easy decision."
