Former 魅影直播 State College and University of Arkansas football player Matt Hewitt (Englewood, NJ) has signed a contract with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.聽 Hewitt was one of nine players signed by the team today.
Hewitt played in 18 games at 魅影直播 State and made 190 tackles (81 solo and 109 assists). He also intercepted seven passes, broke up 13 pass plays, and recovered four fumbles. This led to him being named 2nd team All-Northeast Football Conference twice and a preseason NJCAA All-American in 2005.
After a long聽and tough recruiting process, Hewitt signed with the University of Arkansas where he quickly became a top playmaker for the Razorback defense.聽 In 27 games at Arkansas, he recorded 181 tackles, two interceptions, one sack, and recovered three fumbles.聽 He helped the team to an appearance in the Capital One Bowl in 2007 and the Cotton Bowl in 2008.
This summer, Hewitt was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills but was released.聽 He joins a Toronto team that is currently 4-6 on the season with eight game remaining on the schedule.
