The Lady Pioneers, winners of their last eight matches and 19 of their last 20, will be the #4 seed in the national tournament and will take on #5 Hibbing (MN) CC in the national quarterfinals.听 ASC enters the tournament with a 36-3 record, including 12-0 at home, and the #7 ranking in the last NJCAA Division III poll of the regular season.听 On the year the team won 86 out of the 100 games they played.
Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) is the lone Pioneer that will be making her second trip to Rochester, MN and the Nationals.听 Jerome, a two-time 1st team All-Region selection, has 345 kills (3.5 per game), 335 digs (3.4 per game), and 45 service aces on the season.听 For her career she has registered 653 kills, 661 digs, and 81 aces.听 As a team during her time wearing the Blue & Gold, the Pioneers have a 72-9 record and have been in the national poll every week the past two years.
Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) recently became the 3rd straight Lady Pioneer to earn the Region III Division III player of the year honor following a successful sophomore season.听 Toyodome has registered 359 kills (3.6 per game), 276 digs (2.8 per game), and 52 blocks on the season.听 Added to her freshman season in 2006, Toyodome has 611 kills, 429 digs, 476 assists (461 as a freshman), and 132 blocks.听 In her two years, ASC built a 68-9 mark.
Key to the success of 2008 has been the solid contributions made by the freshmen.听
- Setter Breanna Horton (Owego Free) has passed out 964 assists (9.6 per game), recorded 187 digs, and has been credited with 77 kills and 54 aces on her way to 2nd team All-Region and All-WNYAC honors.
- Miki Inoue (Kumamoto, Japan) has served as one of the team's defensive specialist.听 She leads the team with 384 digs (3.8 per game).听 Inoue, standing at 5'1", has also chipped in 130 kills on the season.
- Emily Linn (Portville) earned 3rd team All-WNYAC honors this season after averaging 2.7 kills (272 total) per game and 1.8 digs (183 total).听 She is also tied for the team lead with 52 blocks (37 solo).
- Christina Nolan (Niagara Wheatfield) has been solid and steady for the Lady Pioneers.听 She has 203 digs on the season (2.1 per game) and 21 aces while playing in 96 of the team's 100 games.
Doorley, 6th season - 142-58, and his assistant Stephanie Sprague have kept the Pioneers in the NJCAA Division III poll for most of the last three seasons.听 The team has a 104-12 mark during the last three years.听 Doorley has been twice named the AVCA Northeast Coach of the Year and last season was named the NJCAA District A Coach of the Year.
After finishing tied for 5th at last year's National Championship, the team has the determination to exceed last year's result.
魅影直播 State will take on Hibbing CC at Noon (CST) on Friday.听 A win moves the team into the national semifinals at 4 p.m. (CST) on Friday against the winner of the #1 Brookhaven (TX) CC and #8 Anne Arundel (MD) CC quarterfinal match-up.听 The Pioneers are guaranteed three games during the two day event.
