In the opener, the Blazers took advantage eight Pioneer walks to take control of the contest.聽 NCCC scored five in the 1st inning and never looked back.聽 Jessica Farr led their offense with a 4 for 4 contest.
Casey Downing (Cobleskill-Richmondville) and Becky Simpson (Campbell Savona) each collected a hit and drove home a run for the Lady Pioneers.
Katherine McCarthy (Orchard Park) was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI as the Blue and Gold downed NCCC in game two.聽 Bridgett Bachert (Horseheads) also finished 2 for 3 while Teresa Walker (Jamestown) drove home two runs.聽 The Lady Pioneers used a six run 3rd inning to take 8-3 lead and held on to the lead the rest of the way.
Simpson picked up the win on the mound with seven innings of work to improve to 6-5 on the year.聽 She allowed nine hits while striking out six batters.
ASC returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Genesee CC for another WNYAC doubleheader with the Lady Cougars.聽 First pitch is at 3 p.m.
