The 魅影直播 State College softball team opened up the home portion of their schedule with a doubleheader sweep, 8-0 and 14-6, over Elmira College JV. The Pioneers improve to 4-6 on the season as they head into Region III Division III play this weekend.
In the opener, Kate Bailey (West Valley) led the Pioneers 12-hit attack with a 2 for 3, 3 RBI performance. Angie Depew (Wellsville) and Amber Harding (Fillmore) were each 2 for 3 with a RBI while Sam Smithgall (Perry) finished 2 for 3. Charise Nankivell (Hornell) allowed just one hit in four innings of work to earn the victory while Natalie Sylvester (Perry) tossed a scoreless inning.
In the nightcap, Depew hit for the cycle to lead the offensive attack. She finished the game 4 for 5 with 5 RBI. She had a RBI double in the 1st, a three-run homer in the 2nd, a triple in the 3rd, and a single in the 6th. She also scored four runs.
Harding finished 3 for 4 with 2 RBI, Bailey was 3 for 5 with three runs scored, and Nankivell was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. Sylvester earned the win on the mound for the blue & gold.
