For the second week in a row, the 魅影直播 State College women's cross country team won an invitational. The Lady Pioneers were victorious in the FLCC Invitational defeating #1 ranked Mohawk Valley CC. The men's team finished 2nd out of seven teams.
The Lady Pioneers, ranked #4 in this week's NJCAA Division III poll, had five of the top nine finishers and finished with a score of 28. Their score was five better than 2nd place Mohawk Valley CC. Broome CC was 3rd with 76 and Herkimer CCC was 4th with 94. Bryant & Stratton, Lorrain (OH) CC, and Finger Lakes CC did not have complete teams.
Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) was the top ASC finisher in 3rd place. She finished the 5k course in 21:21 just one second behind 2nd place and one second ahead of 4th place finisher Diana Burley (Warsaw). Kim Lupo (Auburn) was 7th (22:04), Emily Geesaman (Addison) was 8th in 22:07, and Claire Holleran (Penfield) was 9th in 22:07.
Brian Gooshaw (Elmira Heights/Thomas Edison) led the men with a 5th place finish. He finished the 5-mile course in 29:25. Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South) was 6th (29:41), Tyler Pettit (Mexico) was 9th (29:59), and Tom Lattanzi (Kings Park) was 31st (32:23).
Mohawk Valley won the men's title with 44 points followed by ASC's 84. Lorain had 87, Broome had 91, FLCC 97, Bryant & Stratton 147, and Herkimer 148.
The Pioneers head to Houghton College next Saturday for the Highlander Invitational. Action is slated for a Noon start.
