The 魅影直播 State College volleyball team defeated Corning CC 25-17, 25-14 to win the ASC Tournament title. The Lady Pioneers were 4-1 on the day and are now 15-8 on the season.
The Lady Pioneers earned the #2 seed out of pool play after sweeping Tompkins Cortland (25-18, 25-23) and Broome CC (25-13, 25-17) but falling to Corning (25-12, 20-25, 11-15).
In the semifinals, ASC won the opening game 25-23 over Jamestown CC but saw themselves fall 19-25 in the second and trail 12-9 in the third before rallying for a 16-14 victory.
Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) registered 11 kills and four digs vs. TC3 to lead the way. Brittany Haines (Salamanca) passed out 21 assists and had 11 digs while Kara Anderson (Wayne) had 10 digs.
Kraus recorded 10 kills in the win over Broome while Kelley Dumbleton (Warsaw) had seven digs and four kills. Haines passed out 20 assists.
Ashley Hulse (Hammonsport) led with nine kills and four blocks vs. Corning. Dumbleton had 11 digs and seven kills, Kraus had seven kills, and Haines had 20 assists and 11 digs.
Kraus had 15 kills and four digs in the semifinal victory over JCC. Hulse was credited with seven kills while Mandy Bush (Altoona, PA) chipped in a game high 17 digs. Haines passed out 26 assists and had 13 digs.
Haines finished with 12 assists and 10 digs in the finals while Dumbleton added six kills and five digs. Kraus continued her solid day with five kills and four digs.
Kraus was named the tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by Haines and Hulse. Corning's Nicole Conover and Marissa Weil were also named all-tournament along with Onondaga CC's Kelly Johnson and Jamestown's Hannah Reynolds.
The Lady Pioneers travel to Mercyhurst North East on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest with the Lady Saints.
