The 魅影直播 State College men's outdoor track & field team is sitting in 5th place while the women are in 7th after day two of competition at the NJCAA Division III National Championships at Howard (Columbia, MD) CC.
Pete Francia (Greece Olympia) was the lone Pioneer to place on the day that featured mostly preliminary races. Francia was 4th in the 3,000 m steeplechase with a season best run of 10:02.89.
Carey Crooker (Addison) and Brandon Lewis (Red Creek) advanced to the finals in the 800 m. Crooker ran a 2:32.33 on the women's side while Lewis ran a 1:58.03 to advance to Saturday's finals. Logan Drummer (Pioneer) advanced in the 1,500 m with a run of 4:15.44.
The women's 4 x 400 relay advanced to the finals by winning their heat on Friday. The team of Pam Breedlove (Rochester/East), Kelsey Wissert (Scio), Bridget McMahon (Avoca), and Crooker ran a 4:23.70.
The men have 31 points after day two and trail the College of DuPage (83), Harper College (40), Gloucester CC (34), and SUNY Delhi (33).
The women have 16 points and trail Mohawk Valley CC (67), Harper (56), Herkimer CCC (56), Gloucester (36), CC of Rhode Island (26.5), and Delhi (16).
Action continues all day Saturday with the national championship teams crowned late in the afternoon.
