Peet was the #1 seed in the 149 lb. competition. He defeated Nick Bennett from Jamestown CC 6-0 in the semifinals to advance to the finals to meet with #8 ranked Vinny DiGravio (Mercyhurst North East). In the finals, DiGravio was able to pull out a 5-1 victory to avenge an earlier loss to #11 ranked Peet in the regular season. Peet will enter the national competition with a 13-3 record on the season.
Peet finished 6th in the nation as a freshman at 149 lbs. last year.
Simons defeated #2 seed James Bennett from Mercyhurst North East in the semifinals of the 165 lb. competition to clinch a spot to Nationals. He won a close 7-6 decision to advance to the finals. In the finals, he was unable to solve Kris Schimek from Niagara CCC and fell 16-2.
Niagara CCC took home the District championship with 133 followed by Mercyhurst North East (129.5), Springfield Tech (87), and Jamestown CC (74.5).
Peet and Simons will head with head coach George Porter to the NJCAA Nationals in Rochester, MN on February 23rd. Competition begins on the 24th and runs until the evening of the 25th.
