The Pioneers led throughout game one and held off a late Cougar rally stranding the tying and winning runners on base when they recorded the games final out. Jake Dale (Keshequa) led the way with a 2 for 2 day with three runs scored while Kyle Barkley (Penn Yan) was 2 for 3. Joe Wallace (Avoca) drove in two runs and finished 1 for 3. Mark Ciccotti (Horsheads) allowed four earned runs in a complete game victory. He walked three and struck out seven.
Eitan Maoz broke a 4-4 tie with no outs in the 7th inning with a three-run homer to lift Genesee to the victory in the nightcap. ASC led 3-0 after the 1st inning and led 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 5th but GCC rallied to tie the game heading into the 7th.
Dale led the Pioneer offense with a 1 for 4, 2 RBI day. Tyler Mann (Holland Patent) allowed six earned runs in six innings on the mound. He walked three and struck out four.
The Pioneers (14-11, 1-1 Region III Division II) take on GCC again on Saturday at 魅影直播 State. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
