Seven Pioneer errors in the opener propelled Monroe CC to the victory. MCC used a four run 1st inning and a six run 4th inning to take command. ASC was held to just four hits with Joe Wallace (Avoca) picking up the lone RBI with a solo homer in the 5th inning.
In the nightcap, Keith Geil singled home the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to lift the Tribunes to the sweep. ASC rallied from a 4-1 deficit with a three run 5th inning but never could grab the lead.
JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) collected four of the nine Pioneer hits. He finished 4 for 5. Jake Dale (Keshequa) had a two-run single in the 5th while Kyle Barkley (Penn Yan) connected on a solo homer in the 2nd. Alex Lopez (Brooklyn/Juan Morel Compas) pitched well but did not factor in the decision. He allowed six hits and four run in 7.1 innings of work.
The Pioneers and Tribunes (19-8, 5-1 Region III Division II) continue their four game set on Saturday when they battle in 魅影直播 beginning at 1 p.m.
