The 魅影直播 State College men's basketball team withstood a furious comeback from Corning to win their first of the season, 71-67. ASC is now 1-1 on the year.
The Pioneers led by eleven at half, 40-29, and led by as many as 15 in the second half but Corning went on a run and took a 61-60 lead late in the contest. ASC finished the contest on a 11 to 7 run to seal the victory.
Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) led the Pioneers with 20 points including 8 for 11 from the foul line. Rasean Parris (Benjamin Banneker) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards whle Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) chipped in 12 points and seven boards.
Jeremy Scharborough led Corning with 19 points and 13 rebounds while Mike Backer finished with 14.
ASC shot 36.8% from the field, 26.9% from three, and 73.3% (22 for 30) from the foul line while CCC shot 38.9% from the field, 12.5% from three, and 47.4% (9 for 19) from the line.
ASC travels to the Monroe CC Classic this weekend. They take on SUNY Delhi on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the first day of the tournament and take on CCAC Allegheny at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
