The match came down to the final bout between ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State's Dan Dwyer (Lafayette) and Mike Powell at 197 lbs.Ìý Dwyer was able to come out victorious 4-1 to erase a 17-15 Saint lead and give the Pioneers the 18-17 victory.
MNE led 6-0 to start the evening following a forfeit at heavyweight.Ìý Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) made it 6-3 with a 2-1 victory over Mike Capobianco at 133.Ìý Brian Gaines earned a 3-1 victory at 141 to give the Saints a 9-3 advantage.Ìý ASC took the lead for the first time after receiving forfeit victories at 157 Cody Lansberry (Kendall) and 165 Broncho Rollins (Ithaca).Ìý Mercyhurst took back the lead, 17-15,Ìýwith a 12-10 overtime victory by Timothy MeahlÌý over Eric Giles (Vestal) at 174 and a 17-1 victory by Joshua Miller at 184.
The Pioneers are now 1-5 overall and the season and 1-4 in WNYAC action.Ìý The team travels to Niagara CCC on Saturday for a 2 p.m. battle with the Trailblazers.
