The Pioneers and the Trojans were scoreless until the 4th inning when NIACC scored four runs to take control of the game.聽 The Trojans added three more runs in the 5th before the Pioneers scored five runs in the 5th to cut it to 7-5.聽 North Iowa added an insurance run to secure the victory.
Jeff Benchich (Millbrook) took the loss.聽 He tossed four innings and allowed four runs.聽 Joel Green (Horseheads) tossed an inning (3 R) and Chris Fox (Mahopac) tossed the final two (1 R).
Kenny O'Brien (Norwalk, CT) and Kevin Underhill (Somers) each finished 2 for 4 to pace the offense.聽 O'Brien drove in a run.
The Blue and Gold play again on Friday afternoon when they take on UCONN Avery Point at 1 p.m. at Cocoa, Expo.
