Joel Green (Horseheads) tossed a complete game five-hit shutout in the opener.聽 Green allowed just five singles, struck聽out two batters, and walked none.聽 Bruno Saraceno (Binghamton) was 2 for 2 with three runs scored while Ruben Angeles (George Washington) was 2 for 3 with an RBI to pace the offense.聽 Donny Smith (Brighton) capped off a five-run聽6th inning with a two RBI聽double.
In the nightcap, the Blue and Gold rallied from a 4-0 deficit with two runs in the 5th and three in the 6th to keep their winning streak alive.聽 Kevin Underhill (Somers) had a two RBI double in the 5th to cut the lead in half and then Saraceno and Kenny O'Brien (Norwalk, CT) drove home runs in the 6th to tie the game.聽 Saraceno scored the winning run on a wild pitch.聽 ASC collected all four of their hits in the 5th and 6th innings.
Angeles came out of the bullpen and allowed just three hits and no runs in 5.1 innings of work.聽 He didn't walk a batter while striking out four batters.聽 With the win he improves to 2-0 on the year.
The Pioneers head to Lakeland (OH) CC on Thursday looking to extend their winning streak.聽 First pitch from Mentor, OH is scheduled for 2 p.m.
