The 魅影直播 State College baseball team split a doubleheader at Lakeland (OH) CC on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers (13-10) won the opener 11-4 but fell 3-2 to in the nightcap.
ASC scored seven runs in the 2nd inning to take full control of the opener. Joe Wallace (Avoca) was 3 for 3 with a solo homer and a double, Brian Zimmermann (Frontier) was 2 for 2 with three runs scored, and JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) was 2 for 3 with a RBI. Alex Lopez (Brooklyn/Juan Morel Compas) earned the victory of the mound with a complete game seven hitter. He allowed four runs while walking four and striking out two.
In the nightcap, ASC committed a throwing error with one out in the bottom of the 7th that allowed the Lakers to break a 2-2 tie and walk-off the with the victory.
Andrew Alexander (LeRoy) was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits, including a triple in the first inning. Zimmermann picked up the lone RBI of the game. Brent Johnson (Penn Yan) was the tough luck loser on the mound. He allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out four in 6.1 innings of work.
The blue & gold return to action on Thursday when they open up Region III Division II play at Genesee CC. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
