The 魅影直播 State College baseball team swept a pair, 5-4 and 13-2, from Ithaca College JV on Tuesday afternoon. The wins snap a three game losing streak and improves the Pioneers to 16-13 on the season.
In the opener, Nick Koroluck (Owego) singled home Kyle Barkley (Penn Yan) with no outs in the 7th to break a 4-4 tie and lift the Pioneers to the victory. ASC trailed 4-3 heading into their last at bat. Jake Dale (Keshequa) led off the inning with a triple and scored on a single by Anthony Espe (Union Endicott).
Espe led the blue & gold's 12 hit attack with a 3 for 4, 1 RBI day. Koroluck and Travis Fenstermaker (LeRoy) each finished 2 for 3 with an RBI while Dale was 2 for 4. John Whitehead (Amherst) earned his first collegiate victory with a complete game five-hitter. He allowed two earned runs while walking one and striking out three.
ASC pounded out 16 hits in the nightcap victory. Dale led the way with a 3 for 3 day with 2 RBI. He connected on solo homer in the 4th inning. Koroluck and Andrew Alexander (LeRoy) eaach finished 2 for 4 with 3 RBI while Ryan Barkley (Penn Yan) was 2 for 4 with a RBI. Fenstermaker continue his solid day with a 2 for 3, 1 RBI performance.
Brent Johnson (Penn Yan) allowed three hits and two runs in four innings of work to earn the win while Joe Wallace (Avoca) struck out three and allowed just one hit in the last two innings.
The blue & gold head back into Region III Division II action on Thursday when they begin a four-game series with Monroe CC. ASC visits MCC on Thursday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
