Architecture Professor Jeff Johnston and business Professor Dianne Tuzzolino, along with semester abroad students, will present the program 鈥淭orna A Sorrento: Semesters Abroad at Sant鈥橝nna Institute鈥 which examines the academic work that takes place at Sorrento鈥檚 Sant'Anna Institute whose programs were recently ranked # 1 according to USA Today.

The presentation focuses on sustainability and culture and the challenge of working with professional contemporary demands in the context of Italy鈥檚 rich cultural past. Architecture students, for example, studied the potential for an economically and architecturally sustainable rehabilitation and expansion of the port of Sorrento while business students developed proposals from the perspective of business sustainability鈥攕ocial responsibility, environmental accountability, and economic vitality. Students ultimately made their recommendations to Sorrento鈥檚 Mayor Guisseppe Cuomo.

The program is part of The New Horizons Forum, sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences, which showcases current scholarly, creative, and public service work by faculty, students, professional staff, and invited guests.
