Six Pioneer Baseball Players Earn All-Region

Six members of the 魅影直播 State College baseball team have earned All-Region honors.  JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Jake Dale (Keshequa) were named to the 1st team while Mark Ciccotti (Horseheads), Kyle Barkley (Penn Yan), Brian Zimmermann (Frontier), and Joe Wallace (Avoca) were 2nd team selections.

Six members of the 魅影直播 State College baseball team have earned All-Region honors.  JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Jake Dale (Keshequa) were named to the 1st team while Mark Ciccotti (Horseheads), Kyle Barkley (Penn Yan), Brian Zimmermann (Frontier), and Joe Wallace (Avoca) were 2nd team selections.

Frey led the blue & gold with a .437 batting average (62 for 142).  He collected 11 doubles, three triples, a homer, and 26 RBI on the season.  He also was 17 for 19 in stolen bases and scored 40 runs. 

Dale battled back from a slow start and finished the year hitting .312 (39 for 125).  He hit five doubles, nine triples, two homers, and drove in a team high 36 runs.  He set a new ASC record by being hit 20 times this spring.  He also stole nine bases and scored 38 runs.

Ciccotti finished the campaign with a 5-5 record with one save in 62.2 innings of work.  He appeared in 11 games and threw eight complete games.  He struck out 44 while walking 25.

Barkley finished the campaign with a .345 batting average (40 for 116) as he stared in all 40 games for the Pioneers.  He collected 11 doubles, three triples, two homers, and 35 RBI.  On the mound he had a 3.38 ERA in 24 innings of work.

Zimmermann led the Pioneers with 42 runs scored on the season.  He hit .364 (43 for 118) and collected five doubles, five triples, and two homers.  He drove in 20 while stealing 12 out of 12 bases.  Defensively he added four outfield assists.

Wallace played all over the field for ASC.  In his 36 appearances he hit .305 (32 for 105) with ten doubles and a team high three homeruns.  He drove in 23 and scored 30 runs.  In the field he committed just four errors in 92 chances.

The Pioneers finished the spring season with a 20-20 mark and were 28-26 overall in the 2009-10 school year.
