Dr. Stephen J. Havlovic, an educator with a strong background in human resources and developing partnerships with international and domestic institutions of higher education, has been named Vice President for Academic Affairs at 魅影直播 State College; his appointment was announced by ASC President Dr. John M. Anderson.
鈥淎fter an arduous national search, the committee has endorsed Steve Havlovic to assume the reins of our academic areas,鈥 said Anderson. 鈥淚 am delighted to welcome Steve to 魅影直播 State and look forward to his joining our senior leadership team. I am certain that the depth and breadth of his experience will be a great asset to the college.鈥
Havlovic, a Cincinnati native, was hired after an extensive national search led by a nine-member 魅影直播 State College committee. He will take the helm of academic affairs, beginning, June 1, 2010, succeeding Craig R. Clark who served as interim vice president of academic affairs during the 2009-10 academic year.
鈥淚 am looking forward to joining the 魅影直播 State community,鈥 says Havlovic. 鈥淚 am impressed with the College鈥檚 strategic plan and am excited to become a part of that process. During my visit to the campus I was struck by the dedication and friendliness of the faculty, staff, and students I encountered. I am certain this will be the beginning of a great experience.鈥
Most recently, Havlovic served as the dean of the School of Business at SUNY Institute of Technology (Utica/Rome) as well as professor of human resource management. In this role, he was responsible for managing the School of Business鈥 academic degree programs, its $3.2 million budget, 23 faculty (30 FTE), 700 students, and accreditation. He led the successful AACSB International accreditation initiative, established area coordinators, the learning assurance committee, and continuous improvement processes as well as obtained funding for a financial trading room. He negotiated more than 30 transfer articulation agreements with feeder colleges.
Havlovic has also served in administrative and teaching capacities at the University of Wisconsin 鈥 Whitewater; Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, British Columbia); and the University of Wisconsin 鈥 Oshkosh. Havlovic has also held international visiting academic appointments at the Universit茅 des Sciences et Technologies de Lille (France) and DePaul University (Poland & Czechoslovakia).
Havlovic holds a PhD from Ohio State University with a major in labor and human resources and a minor in industrial and organizational psychology; an MLHR from Ohio State University in industrial relations and personnel management; and a BA from Ohio State University in economics.

Havlovic is the recipient of many honors, including: the Best Paper Award (1998); Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (1999); Canada Trust Distinguished Teacher Award (1994); and Best Paper Prize for 1992 - Journal of Organizational Behavior (1993).
Havlovic鈥檚 professional association memberships include Canadian Industrial Relations Association, International Industrial Relations Association, Labor and Employment Relations Association, Mohawk Valley Society for Human Resource Management, and Rotary International.
As vice president for academic affairs, Havlovic is responsible for a 250-member professional staff, including 150 faculty. He also oversees the college鈥檚 three schools: Arts and Sciences, Management and Engineering Technology, and Applied Technology, as well as a $10 million annual budget.
