Student displays from 13 local school districts were judged at 魅影直播 State College鈥檚 19th annual Regional Science and Technology Fair.

Participating districts included Addison, 魅影直播-Almond, Archbishop Walsh STCS, Bolivar-Richburg, Cassadaga Valley, Friendship, Hinsdale, Homeschool, Hornell, Lima Christian School, Portville, Prattsburgh, and St. Ann鈥檚 Academy.

A total of 154 students presented 138 science and technology projects to the judges for a chance at a share of the $1,590 in prize money. Participants were divided into three divisions: senior (grades 10-12), junior (grades seven through nine), and novice (grades four through six).

Winners in the senior division included first-place winner ($250) Nathan Kloc from Portville with 鈥淟ife Saving Forces,鈥 second-place winner ($150) James Daley from Portville with 鈥淐onverting Acoustic Energy into Electrical Energy Using Piezoelectricity,鈥 and third-place winner ($100) Maggie Waugh from Portville with 鈥淗ot or Not.鈥

Winners in the junior division included first-place winner ($250) Isaac Howell from Hinsdale with 鈥淭ough as Nails,鈥 second-place winner ($150) Teddan Shaw from Archbishop Walsh with 鈥淩obotic Leg,鈥 and third-place winner ($100) Nicolas Teachout from Lima Christian School with 鈥淗ow Far Does a Gauss Gun Shoot.鈥

Winners in the novice division included first-place winner ($50) McKenzie Calderwood from Prattsburgh with 鈥淏rain Blizzard,鈥 second-place winner ($25) Maria Rickert from Archbishop Walsh with 鈥淪olar Ovens,鈥 and third-place winner ($15) Lilli Khettry from Archbishop Walsh with 鈥淲hat Foods Cut Spiciness the Best.鈥

The grand prize ($500) went to Hannah Cole from Portville with 鈥淏race Yourself.鈥

The People鈥檚 Choice Award resulted in a tie between (Certificate/Ribbon) Jessica Munson from Portville with 鈥淭hird Eye鈥 and Bryson Jones from St. Ann鈥檚 Academy with 鈥淪oil of the Future.鈥

Winning Outstanding School awards were Archbishop Walsh (novice division), Addison (junior division), and Portville (senior division). All Outstanding School winners received a silver tray.

Each participant received a certificate of participation, and individual ribbons were presented to first-, second-, and third-place prize winners in all divisions. The Science and Technology Fair was sponsored by Alstom, ACES, Fisher Scientific, 魅影直播 State College Student Senate, 魅影直播 State College Science Society Club, 魅影直播 State College Physical and Life Sciences Department, American Chemical Society, Estes Rockets, Carolina Biological, and Fruition Seeds.
