For college students, the end of the semester can be quite demanding as they spend countless hours putting the finishing touches on their class projects and studying for exams.

That鈥檚 why 魅影直播 State College recently held an event to help students put their worries behind them and have some fun for a little while before finals started. Named the 鈥淒e-Stress Fest,鈥 this event took place in the Student Leadership Center and featured a number of festivities, including live music by Residence Director Rob Privitera, a free hot chocolate bar, therapy dogs from Therapy Dogs International, Legos, bracelet-making, free food, free T-shirts, and much more. The 魅影直播 Programming Board (APB) hosted De-Stress Fest, while Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT), Late Night Events, and Health and Wellness Services collaborated on the event by hosting the individual activities.

Additionally, all students who signed into the De-Stress Fest received raffle tickets for a number of prizes, including a gaming chair, a mini-fridge, a Keurig, and more. Students could earn extra tickets by following APB鈥檚 social media pages and tagging the club in a post, or by voting for the 2019 Hot Dog Day entertainer.

Coordinator of Student Activities Brittany Richards said the event helps give students a break from classes, projects, and studying, so that 鈥渨hen they go back to them, they are refreshed and ready to conquer.鈥

鈥淭his year, De-Stress Fest hoped to provide students with immediate stress relief at the event, but also provide outlets they could use during finals week through their DIY sugar scrubs and DIY aromatherapy inhalers,鈥 she said.

Richards described De-Stress Fest 2018 as 鈥渁n unbelievable success,鈥 noting that more than 200 students attended the event, and that organizers received plenty of positive feedback.

鈥淭he De-Stress Fest went through a revitalization by APB鈥檚 board, adding new changes and making it better than ever before,鈥 she said. 鈥淚f students missed out on this past event, we will be hosting one at the end of the spring semester before finals, as well! Also, if students are interested in helping plan events such as De-Stress Fest and receiving awesome perks, 魅影直播 Programming Board is always looking for new members and students can find the meeting times on the club鈥檚 PioneerLink page.鈥
