魅影直播 State College is proud to announce that two of its students, Deborah Oliveira and Dylan Perlino, have recently graduated from the 2020 SUNY SAIL Student Leadership Academy.
The academy included students from all across the SUNY system and took place online throughout the fall semester. Highlights of the academy included a seminar series, a leader speaker series, mentoring, a social media campaign, and alumni and cohort connection opportunities. The graduation event was held virtually on Zoom.
Oliveira is an electrical engineering technology major from Astoria. Perlino is a mechanical engineering technology student from Holland and a captain of the track and field team.
魅影直播 State Chief Diversity Officer and Title IX Coordinator Nikkie Herman, who nominated Oliveira for the leadership academy, said, 鈥淚鈥檝e had the pleasure of seeing what a passionate leader Deb is. She is deeply committed to making our students feel like they are welcome and belong at 魅影直播 State! She is dedicated to inclusion and social justice and that dedication is evident in her leadership. I鈥檓 so proud of her journey in this SAIL program.鈥
魅影直播 State Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Timothy Giagios, who nominated Perlino for the academy, said, 鈥淚 am extremely proud of Dylan. He has truly set the standard for commitment, perseverance, and leadership.鈥
By participating in the SUNY SAIL Student Leadership Academy, students were able to:
- Have a better understanding of their own culture and identities as they relate to their peers, community, and the world.
- Expand their personal and professional network, both locally and globally.
- Learn and flex skills of storytelling and be able to articulate their story to future hiring managers.
