Students within 魅影直播 State College鈥檚 various health-focused programs were able to meet with many employers recently during a nursing and medical-related career fair.
Elaine Morsman, director of the Career Development Center at 魅影直播 State, noted this year鈥檚 fair was another success.
鈥淲e loved the variety of employers who were recruiting for several of our health-related majors, including nursing (two- and four-year) and radiologic technology,鈥 she said. 鈥淪tudents came prepared with resumes in hand. One of the employers told me that this was the best fair that they had attended in a long time. Often they meet very few qualified candidates, but that was not true about our fair.鈥
Interest among employers in attending 魅影直播 State career fairs continues to grow, as evident from this year鈥檚 nursing and medical-related career fair, which drew in 22 employers, compared to 11 last year.
Employers at this year鈥檚 fair noted how impressed they were with 魅影直播 State students. Julianne Remaley, a senior nurse recruiter with UPMC, said her employer last year hired a couple of ASC graduates who turned out to become excellent employees, which is why UPMC was eager to come back to campus this year and recruit even more Pioneers.
鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to talk with the students who are going to be graduating and to give them opportunities to start their career,鈥 she said.
Kelli Piehler, associate director of campus recruitment and talent acquisition at Rochester Regional Health, said, 鈥淚鈥檝e been very impressed with the professionalism of the students and their interest level and engagement coming to the table. They come prepared with their resumes, they鈥檙e asking great questions, so I鈥檓 confident they鈥檙e going to transition into really great nurses.鈥
Overall, 44 students enrolled in 魅影直播 State鈥檚 nursing and medical-related programs signed in to meet with employers during the career fair 鈥 handing out resumes, engaging in conversations, and making those all-important professional connections. Not all of the students who attended the fair signed in, however, Morsman noted.
Nicole Ahle, a nursing student from Nanuet, said the recruiters she spoke with offered not only helpful information about their place of employment, but also great advice about starting a career in the medical field.
Raeha Dixon, a healthcare management major from Perry, said she spoke with many employers and noted her interactions with them were very positive. She also applauded 魅影直播 State for offering opportunities such as the career fair.
