Big Blue’s Career Closet now available for students

Big Blue stands on the stairs holding a suit — Big Blue is ready for his next interview. ��Ӱֱ�� State students now have the ability to use Big Blue’s Career Closet to look professional for their next interview, networking event, and/or career fair.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State Career Development Center has partnered with MyCareerCloset to open Big Blue’s Career Closet. The service will help students prepare for interviews, networking events, and career fairs.

The microsite allows students to scan a QR code, enter their clothing size, speak to a stylist, and select professional clothing. The box of clothing will be delivered to students in five to seven days and students can decide whether to return or purchase the clothing at a discounted rate.

“��Ӱֱ�� State offers a wide variety of curriculums, and this service provides consultation on professional attire for every industry,” stated Director of Career Development Maureen Sibble. “We know first impressions matter and dressing professional can boost students’ confidence.”

In 2021, the Career Development Center partnered with Kappa Sigma Epsilon to offer a professional clothing closet on campus. This new initiative adds to the services offered to students.

Sibble continued. “I noticed another school offering a digital format and I wanted to offer similar services to our students. We pride ourselves on offering innovative resources.”

Senior Career Planning and Development Associate Valerie Daciw echoed Sibble’s excitement. “Our Career Development Center is proud to be one of the first in the northeast to introduce a subscription-based career closet. With the exciting additional option of interview attire for students in the trades, we are empowering all students to dress for success, no matter their field."

Students can start using the new service immediately. If they have any questions, they can visit the Career Development Center on the fourth floor of the Student Leadership Center (Room 404).

“Having a great first impression, curated and delivered to you on campus, is a unique benefit we’re proud to offer our students,” commented Vice President for Student and Employee Affairs Dr. Greg Sammons. “The program levels up and expands upon our existing career closet and illustrates how the college is a leader in SUNY’s entire Career Services space.”
