Lillian Haley (Hornell, NY) enjoys solving puzzles and working to find an answer. Her passion led her to the criminal justice program at ��Ӱֱ�� State.

“I chose ��Ӱֱ�� because of how close it is to my hometown and how affordable it is. I enjoy being close to home so I can go home often.”

Lillian likes how she can combine what she learns in lecture with hands-on opportunities in the crime scene lab. “The professors always keep it interesting and informative in lecture. I have had classes in the crime scene lab about fingerprinting, collecting evidence off the door, collecting footprints from the mud outside, and making castings of them.”

The real-world experiences of the professors have aided Lillian’s learning. “Our professors have worked in the field before. It is interesting to hear their stories and experiences and being able to connect that within class.”

Lillian has added to her experiences by being part of the criminal justice club. “We have done trips to the Allegany County jail where we talked to dispatch, the sheriff, and learned about the facility.” 

“Once I graduate, I am hoping to earn my private investigator license and then start working inside a private organization doing insurance fraud or infidelity cases.” 

On top of her studies, Lillian has worked as an admissions ambassador. “I really enjoy being able to share information to the students, spark their interest through like clubs and activities on campus. It is just nice to see them put things together, see them go from not sure to I want to go here now." 

��Ӱֱ�� State has helped Lillian investigate her career path and she has solved the case.
