魅影直播 State students were honored at the 41st annual Honors Convocation. Dr. Carrie Cokely, Vice President for Academic Affairs, presided over the event.
Cokely was excited to celebrate so many students for their success. 鈥淭his event highlights the splendid work our students do in and outside the classroom. What a wonderful way to start the final week of the 2024-25 school year. I encourage our students returning next year to keep up the great work and wish our graduates continued success in their future endeavors.鈥
魅影直播 State President Dr. Steven Mauro and Cokely offered welcome addresses prior to inviting the deans of each of the three schools to present the Dean鈥檚 Awards for Academic Excellence. Adriana Duval (Diagnostic Medical Sonography) and Racquel Gerstenberger (Forensic Science) were honored in the School of Arts and Sciences), Kimberly Weber (Court & Realtime Reporting) and Connor Ingham (Surveying & Geomatics Engineering Technology) were honored from the School of Architecture, Management, and Engineering Technology, and Mary Keinenberger (Culinary Arts 鈥 Baking and Production Management) and Hope Shaul (Electrical Trades) were honored from the School of Applied Technology.
Cokely returned to the stage to award Deanna Gannon (Forensic Science) and Alexander Ulbright (Mechanical Engineering Technology) with the Vice President鈥檚 Award for Academic Excellence.
Vice President for Student and Employee Affairs Dr. Gregory Sammons honored Alyssa James (Graphic and Media Design and Digital Media and Animation) and John Christie (Architecture) for their Chancellor鈥檚 Award for Student Excellence. Read more about the Chancellor鈥檚 Award.
Dr. Sammons also honored Ethan Kuhn (Health Science) with the Patricia K. Fogarty Former College Chair, Endowed Award. During her time at 魅影直播 State, Kuhn has demonstrated a passion for healthcare and community service. During his time at ASC, he has received the AMCC Sportsmanship Award, the Leadership Through Civic Engagement Award, and has taken service trips with Habitat for Humanity and a relief trip in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. He has also served as a peer mentor and volunteered with both Foodlink and the Hart Comfort House.
Erin Kuhn (Criminal Justice) was awarded the Paul Buckman Memorial Award. The award is given to a graduating resident assistant who has demonstrated excellence in job performance and academic achievement. Kuhn is a residence assistant in Braddon Hall and is credited for her hard work and dedication to her position. She makes herself available and goes above and beyond to help others feel welcome and heard.
Chair of the College Council Ronald Nasca awarded a quartet of Pioneers with the Leadership through Civic Engagement Award. Rebekah Williams (Mechanical Engineering Technology), Connor Welsh (Architecture Technology), Mamadou Barry (Electrical Engineering Technology), and Jordan Henry (Veterinary Technology) were honored for their work on civic engagement initiatives during their time at 魅影直播 State.
Barry was also honored as the first recipient of the ReClaim Mega Sale Endowed Scholarship. The $650 award was award to Barry for his dedicated service as a civic leader at the College.
Student Senate President Unique Isom presented Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Lecturer Morgan McLean with the Student Advocate Award. McLean is credited by her nominators for being enthusiastic and loving what she teaches. She listens to students and finds out what they are interested in and works to add new classes and plan tours to visit places to add to their educational experiences.
Erica Matteson, an Assistant Professor in the Allied Health Department, was awarded the Excellence in Online Teaching Award. Her students shared that she goes above and beyond to make sure her students have all the resources available for them to succeed.
Students from each of the three schools were honored for their academic achievements. 魅影直播 State will honor the Class of 2025 at Commencement on Saturday, May 10.
