The Pioneer Award acknowledges those who have demonstrated commitment and dedication to the college鈥檚 mission and goals, have made contributions that have had a measurable positive impact on college operations, are seen as positive role models that show creativity and initiative, and have shown a consistent level of exceptional performance throughout their employment.
Julie Abbey, instructional support associate in the Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Department, has brought unwavering dedication, integrity, and compassion to 魅影直播 State. As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, she consistently goes above and beyond to support students, colleagues, and animals with tireless commitment.
She has been instrumental in enhancing hands-on learning opportunities, developing new community partnerships, improving kennel protocols, and securing vital resources for the Vet Tech Center. Her leadership in animal care and curriculum innovation, along with her service as our program鈥檚 IACUC director, reflects her deep commitment to excellence and student success.
Abbey has become a trusted mentor and advocate for students. She offers guidance, listens with empathy, and makes a lasting impact on their professional and personal growth. No matter what the task, she leads with purpose, care, and an unmatched work ethic.
Bob Haley, campus landscaper and AiM Coordinator, spends countless hours keeping the college looking good, safe, and inviting to all. He is involved in practically every special event on campus and along with his staff they jump from project to project. His knowledge and ability to pivot and adapt to get the job done is commendable.
Haley is wired with 440 volts and brings energy to every task he faces. He establishes a high standard and works right alongside his staff to get what is needed accomplished.
He works consistently to improve campus events and upgrade the appearance of our already beautiful campus.
Zeda Thomas, Lead Programmer-Analyst, has quickly become a star in the programming ranks since their hire. Their exceptional ability is known not only at 魅影直播 State but across the SUNY system. Their knowledge and commitment to providing outstanding services to students, faculty, and staff continues to grow.
Thomas was instrumental in providing prospective students and their families with financial aid award letters during the challenges faced with FAFSA. Often assigned the task of training new programmers because of their ability to inspire new hires with their programming and analytical skills, knowledge of Banner, work ethic, and ability to solve problems.
They are assigned challenging tasks and excels in their execution. The SICAS center, a Banner programming entity, across SUNY, awarded Thomas for their significant contributions to the success of the program.
The trio received a gift and a certificate to commemorate the honor.
