Cameron Hernandez
Cameron Hernandez (Buffalo, NY) has taken advantage of his opportunities in and outside the classroom at 魅影直播 State.
Cameron first came to 魅影直播 State to pursue a degree in electrical construction but after completing his associates continued his education by pursing a degree in construction supervision.
鈥淚 really like the construction supervision degree program that I'm in because we go through all aspects of construction project. We learn about the materials themselves, strengths, weaknesses, methods for using them and we also learn how to plan out projects.鈥
Cameron has also done estimating, supervising and has taken safety courses.
While working on his electrical degree, his professors encouraged him to learn the business side of the field. 鈥淢y classes are a lot of lab work. During labs we use Revit to draw building plans and models. We make construction schedules of when work gets done, by which trades, and the progress of the building.鈥
Cameron has also taken classes like accounting that have helped him understand the financial parts of construction.
Hands-on projects like making 3D models of an actual courthouse have added to his knowledge. 鈥淲e had to replicate their 2D drawings and make 3D models out of it. Getting these physical projects and being hands-on with them helps prepare us for what we're going to do in the field.鈥
Cameron appreciates the real-world experience his professors bring to the classroom. 鈥淭he professors give us points on what they have experienced and how they see things done in the field.鈥
On top of his studies, Cameron has kept himself busy on campus. He is a student manager at ACES, a tutor, a resident assistant, a student ambassador for University Police, and proudly wears the Big Blue suit.
