State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor John B. King Jr. will join ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College (ASC) leadership on Friday, August 15, to see progress on EV technology in student labs at the Wellsville campus and a new Culinary Arts learning lab on Main Street in ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥. The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ event will include a ribbon cutting with additional dignitaries as ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State reopens the historic Collegiate Restaurant, which is a local landmark.

The day begins in Wellsville with a tour of a new electrician's lab and electric vehicle (EV) technology in automotive trades that is being enhanced by Governor Hochul’s SUNY Transformation Fund. A Green Workforce Grant is allocating ASC $284,000 for new EV equipment, training programs, and charging stations. Next, the chancellor will attend the Collegiate ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to the event.

Joining Chancellor King and ASC President Steven Mauro at the ribbon cutting will be ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Mayor Jim Ninos, New York State Senator Thomas O’Mara, New York State Assemblyman Joe Sempolinski, and Allegany County Director of Economic Development Ashley Smith.

The Collegiate has been part of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ community since 1924 and has been a cornerstone of ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥â€™s Main Street. Earlier this year, ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State announced that the college would now manage the restaurant operation after decades of service by the Ninos family.

John B. King Jr. is the 15th Chancellor of SUNY, the largest comprehensive system of public higher education in the United States. As Chancellor, King and the SUNY Board of Trustees have established four pillars to guide SUNY's progress: student success; research and scholarship; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and economic development and upward mobility.

The Collegiate will feature a handful of Jet Classic options along with a wide variety of new items. The restaurant will operate from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. every day, except on Mondays.

During the summer, ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State continued to serve the local community with the Feast Beast food truck based on Main Street. The restaurant has been under construction to prepare for the fall ribbon cutting and to build a learning lab for students enrolled in the college’s Culinary Arts program.
