Ever since she was a child, Shelby Detro has been interested in technology.
Whenever the Xbox or the computer at home needed fixing, she was the one to do it. It is only fitting, then, that she enrolled in 魅影直播 State鈥檚 computer information systems program, where she is learning to become the 鈥渞esident expert鈥 not only at home, but on the job, as well.
In her major, Shelby is getting plenty of hands-on, real-world experience learning how to administer a computer networking system, install software, establish security, and more.
鈥淚 really am more of a hands-on learner. We can talk about how packets are sent through Ethernet cables, but to actually discover, 鈥楬ey, if I plug the cable into here and to here, I get a connection,鈥 it really helps you to understand what鈥檚 going on.鈥
Shelby鈥檚 applied learning experiences go beyond the classroom, too, through her internship and being on the 魅影直播 State Information Security Team (ASIST), which has competed in and hosted multiple information security competitions.
鈥淚 feel like 魅影直播 State has made me more confident. I know what I鈥檓 doing, and I鈥檓 proud to say that and to be able to help other people.鈥
