��Ӱֱ�� State College will participate in the United States Department of Agriculture's Research, Education, and Economics Agency's (USDA/REE) second annual Bio Energy Awareness Days (BEAD II) in Washington, DC, in June. The purpose of the event is to increase awareness and knowledge related to the sustainable production of agriculture-based and natural resource-based renewable energy and the efficient use and conservation of energy for the benefit of rural communities and the nation.

Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor of psychology at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, is the author of an article appearing in the most recent issue of Newsletter of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, a publication of the American Psychological Association. 

Students enrolled in ��Ӱֱ�� State College's Building Trades curriculums have donated their time and talents to help a local family with a wheelchair-bound child by building a ramp at the house where the family lives to make mobility a little easier for the child and his family.

Students enrolled in the building trades curriculums at ��Ӱֱ�� State College recently went to work to create a timber frame bus stop in the Village of ��Ӱֱ��.

Three ��Ӱֱ�� State College seniors began their service to our country Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) commissioning ceremony in the Allegany Room of the Central Dining Hall on the ��Ӱֱ�� State campus. The ceremony-the first of its kind held at ��Ӱֱ�� State-was as steeped in tradition as the next day's commencement.

��Ӱֱ�� State College nursing students celebrated their accomplishments the Friday before commencement by attending the annual nurses' pinning ceremony.

Three ��Ӱֱ�� State College athletes have been awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award for excellence academically and athletically.  Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA), Zak Williamson (Rocky Point), and Keenan Hall (Monticello) were honored by SUNY and Chancellor Dr. John B. Clark.

Sunday, May 18, as ��Ӱֱ�� State College honored its 97^th graduating
class.

Dr.
John M. Anderson, college president, presided over the ceremony.

At this year's ceremony, ��Ӱֱ�� State presented
an honorary doctorate to Amory Houghton, Jr., former United States
congressman.

��Ӱֱ�� State College sophomore softball players Sarah Flint (Westmoreland) and Bridgett Bachert (Horseheads) were named All-WNYAC second team.  Flint and Bachert helped ASC to a 10-28 record in Coach Michael Caba's first season at the helm of the program.

��Ӱֱ�� State College recently hosted Joseph A. Dunn, PhD, special adviser to the under secretary for Research, Education and Economics, U. S. Department of Agriculture, who visited campus to learn about the college's programs, to discuss possible liaisons between ASC and the USDA, and to discuss opportunities for additional fun

Two ��Ӱֱ�� State College students were recently named
the recipients of $300 scholarships from the New York State Engineering
Technology Association (NYSETA).

��Ӱֱ�� State College recently hosted the Microsoft
"digital dorm room" (DDR), a program designed to bring new technology and
solutions directly to colleges and universities across the United States.

��Ӱֱ�� State College sponsored a "Get Your Ad Running" video contest during the just-completed spring semester. Using ��Ӱֱ�� State College's tag line "Hit the Ground Running," contestants created a 30-second video showing why ��Ӱֱ�� State College is the best place to get an education.

Seven members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College outdoor track & field team earned All-American honors at last weekend's NJCAA Division III National Championships. 

Eight members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team have been named to the Region III Division II All-Region team.  Kevin Underhill (Somers), Derek Speaker (Starpoint), and Bruno Saraceno (Binghamton) were first team selections while Andrew Foster (Clarkson, ONT.), Craig Kosnikowski (N. Tonawanda), Kelvin Espinosa (George Washington), Adalberto Vargas (Norman Thomas), and Yordis Veras (Newtown) were second team selections.

Culinary arts and culinary arts/baking, production and management students at ��Ӱֱ�� State College competed in the 31^st annual Culinary Arts Exposition, which featured an exhibit of Epicurean delights, earlier this spring.

Four members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College lacrosse team have been recognized with postseason awards.  The Pioneers returned to the Region III Tournament where they finished 6th with a 9-5 overall record and a 7-5 mark in Region III play.

Smiles were the order of the day, Thursday, May 8, when ��Ӱֱ�� State College, its faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, students, friends from all walks of life, and SUNY (State University of New York) gathered to celebrate the 100^th anniversary of the school's founding.

More than 1,000 of local school children and their teachers attended ��Ӱֱ�� State College's annual Kiddie Ag Day celebration sponsored by the faculty, staff, and agriculture students at the college. 

��Ӱֱ�� State College employees once again participated in the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work^® Day in April.  This event is open to employees' children, grandchildren, grandsons, nieces, and nephews between the ages of nine and 15. 

Najia McGee (Rochester/Edison) highlighted day three of the NJCAA Division III National Championships with two individual titles and one relay title as the ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's track & field team finished 5th out of 17 teams. Hector Cuero (Middletown), Andrew Omoregie (Gates Chili), and Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) ran to 2nd places finishes as the men's team finished 6th out of 22 teams.

Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili) and Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) each earned All-American status on day two of the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The men's team is currently in 5th place out of 17 teams that have scored while the women are in 8th out of 14 teams that have scored.

Ronald P. Nasca, Hornell, has been appointed to the ��Ӱֱ�� State College Council by the NYS Governor's Office.

Gregory Sammons, chief of police at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, recently had an article published in Campus Law Enforcement Journal, March/April 2008 edition.

The article, "Do You Need More Officers? A Comprehensive Benchmarking Formula that Can Help You Make the Case," delineates the differences between campus and municipal police forces when determining the need for staffing.

��Ӱֱ�� State College freshman Reaghan Bulkley (Avoca) earned 2nd place in the long jump to highlight day one of the NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship.  The women's team has scored 14 points and sits in 4th place while the men have 18 points and are in 5th place.

Eight members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College outdoor track & field team have earned All-Region honors based on winning events at last weekend's Region III Championships.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College athletic department recently handed out their end-of-year awards at a ceremony held at college's Lake Lodge. 

��Ӱֱ�� State College and the Educational Foundation of ��Ӱֱ��, Inc., a private foundation dedicated to improving the ��Ӱֱ�� State College community through the support of educational programs invite the public to view the most recently built home constructed by students enrolled in the Building Trades and Electrical/Electronics programs in the college's School of Applied Technology.

Now that Danica Patrick has become the first woman in a century to win a major racing event after driving into the winner's circle at the Indy Japan 300, it's a sure bet that females will soon become a more common sight in racing.

But it didn't take Patrick's success on the track to interest Kristy Johnson, Point Rock, in the racing field.  

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College softball team got the bats going as they swept ��Ӱֱ�� University JV, 18-10 & 10-1, to wrap up the 2008 season.  With the wins the Blue and Gold finish Head Coach Michael Caba's first season with a 10-28 record.
