The ��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC) Agriculture and Horticulture Department and the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County will sponsor the 39^th annual Finger Lakes Dairy Judging Contest for Future Farmers of America (FFA) members as well as for 4-H members from local counties at the ASC college farm Tuesday, July 8, 2008.

��Ӱֱ�� State College is getting prepared to host the annual summer sports festival.  The 2008 version of the sports festival will include the 27th annual day camp and the 40th learn to swim program.  ��Ӱֱ�� State coaches will also be sponsoring camps in Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer.

��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball player Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) has been named the Western New York Athletic Conference co-female freshman athlete of the year.  Jerome helped the Lady Pioneers to the National Championship Tournament and a 36-6 record.

Threatening skies could not dampen the joy at ��Ӱֱ�� State College recently as ASC alumna Barbara Becker, '47, of Corning, visited campus to participate in the dedication of a bench and perpetual garden in memory of her parents, Leo and Frances Becker.

Allegany Arc recently contributed $1,000 to the Khalid Ashraf Memorial Endowed Scholarship at ��Ӱֱ�� State College. The scholarship honors the memory of Dr. Khalid Ashraf who was killed in an accident in June 2007. The money is a result of contributions Arc received as memorials in Ashraf's name after his passing last year.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College WINS Club (Women In Non-traditional Studies-though the club is open to all students) donated a check for $177.58 to the Anthony Carino Memorial Scholarship.

Friends, relatives, and colleagues of the late Alice Foust gathered on the ��Ӱֱ�� State College campus recently to dedicate a bench and garden in her memory. Foust, who served as a cleaner on campus until her retirement in 2005, lost her battle with cancer last year.

Cynthia Santora, Scio, director of Public Relations at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, was recently presented with the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service, the State University of New York's most prestigious honor.  The award recognizes a member of the professional staff who has provided outstanding service to ��Ӱֱ�� State College and demonstrates excellence in professional activities beyond the job description.

It took two years, but three members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College faculty and a friend capped the last 24 months spent growing their hair by cutting it to donate the tumbling tresses to Locks of Love, an organization that provides hairpieces to children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Stephen Richard, assistant professor, building trades, at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, has authored a workbook:  Workbook to Accompany Masonry Skills, 6^th ed., published by Thompson Delmar Learning to be used in high schools, colleges, and training centers throughout the United States.
