Pioneers Rally to Earn Split

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College baseball team rallied three times in game two of a non-conference doubleheader to salvage a season opening split with Pennsylvania College of Technology.Ìý Penn Tech won the opener 7-1 while A-State won the nightcap 9-8 in eight innings.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's soccer team could not get out of an early hole and fell 3-1 to Hudson Valley CC in day two of the East-West Showdown at Jamestown CC.Ìý The Pioneers are now 1-1 on the young season.

Jason Durst (Gates Chili) scored the game-winner as the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's soccer team downed SUNY Delhi 2-1 in their season opener.Ìý Durst's scored on a header after a corner kick by Justin Handley (Iroquois) during the first overtime session.

Pioneers Open New Stadium with High Hopes

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College football team will play on campus for the first time in program history in 2008 and the Pioneers hope to make some noise in the Northeast Football Conference.Ìý Mick Caba (9th season, 36-44) and his coaching staff believe that an added emphasis on size and speed will pay dividends.

breakfast recently to hear President John Anderson's opening remarks.
Anderson kicked off the academic year by updating new and returning faculty on
the state of the college as well as spotlighting the college's strategic plan
to guide the campus community through the next five years.

annual New Student Convocation. This year's speakers were Jim J. Grillo, SUNY

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletic department will induct the 2008 Hall of Fame class during ceremonies on Friday September 12 as part of Homecoming activities. Softball/basketball player Toni Darling (Johnston), bowler Gerry Cox, and baseball player Joe Van Gorder will join the 43 current members of the Hall of Fame.

Students at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College will join the trayless revolution when they return to school this fall. Dining services organizations across the county are removing trays from dining halls in order to reduce food waste and save both water and electricity.

Holzer Donates $20,000 to his Alma Mater

class of 1956 (plant and soil science), recently donated $20,000 to his alma
mater to help modernize the soils laboratory and provide students with more
practical, hands-on techniques to evaluate soil properties and enhance soil

professor of nursing at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College, will return to campus Aug. 7,
2008, in a new role: she will work half-time in the President's Office serving
as government relations coordinator and half-time as director of the BSN
Program in the Nursing Department. She will sit on the president's
cabinet.

Pioneer Farm

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College (ASC) and the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) are pleased to announce a partnership to establish Pioneer Farm, a model farm to be operated by the college in accordance with Animal Welfare Approved standards. It will focus on teaching grazing systems and animal husbandry practices that enhance land use and animal well-being.

The 2008-09 ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletic season kicks off this week as preseason camps open in preparation for the fall seasons.Ìý Football, volleyball, men's & women's soccer, and baseball will all report to campus and begin practice by Sunday while the cross country team will begin practicing on Tuesday.
PCI and Alumni Association Partner to Create a New Alumni Directory

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College Alumni Association has chosen to partner with PCI Publishing Concepts to create a new Alumni Directory. This is long overdue as the last directory was published in 1994 and since that time nearly 15,000 new alumni have been added to our ranks.
