Gustafson Named SUNY Chancellor Award Winner

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College sophomore wrestler Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) has been named a recipient of the 2009 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Athletes. Gustafson is the honoree out of all two-year wrestlers nominated.

Six Pioneers Earn Lax All-WNYAC

Six members of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College lacrosse team have been named All-WNYAC. Ryan Grogan (Churchville), Josh Mateo (Waterloo), and Mitch Mertel (Churchville) were 1st team selections while William Ardolino (William Floyd), Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) and Ryan Speciale (Corning West) were named 2nd team.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College outfielder Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) has been named to the All-WNYAC 2nd team. Loder started in left field in all 36 games for the 13-23 Lady Pioneers.

ASC Takes Second Place in National BUV Competition

Students Compete for Showmanship Titles

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State SUNY College of Technology recently held its annual Showmanship
Day on campus. A total of 69 animals from five different species were
exhibited. The judges overseeing the showmanship contest this year were

more than ever, given rising tuition costs and a tight economy, academic
scholarships to high-achieving students entering the engineering field play an
important support role for the recipients. This year, 16 students in New
York State colleges and universities received American Council of Engineering
Companies of New York scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $5,000.

Richard Kellogg, professor of psychology at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College, is the author
of an article appearing in the most recent issue of Paperback Parade, a
quarterly magazine published by Gryphon Books of Brooklyn. Titled "Philip
Wylie's Final Dream,"Â the article notes that author Philip Wylie
(1902-1971) was writing about global warming, contamination of our air and
water, and the grave risks of nuclear power long before these issues reached
public consciousness.

"Snippets" Exhibit at Wellsville Creative Arts Center

State College, has an exhibit in the Wellsville Creative Arts Center through
June 4. The exhibit, "Snippets," is comprised of traditional and digital
images from three different bodies of work interrelated by process.

Outdoor Track & Field Athletes Garner Numerous Awards

Numerous members of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College outdoor track & field teams have garnered post season accolades based on their performances at the Region III Championships and the NJCAA Division III Championships. The men finished 2nd at Regionals and 4th at Nationals while the women finished 4th at Regionals and 7th at Nationals.

Six Pioneers Named All-Region in Baseball

Six members of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College baseball team have been honored by being selected to the All-Region team. Adalberto Vargas (Norman Thomas) and Kyle Binder (Hornell) were named to the 1st team while Andrew Foster (Mississauga, ONT), Jake Dale (Keshequa), Karl Kofmel (Ottawa, ONT), and Kenny O'Brien (Norwalk, CT) were 2nd team selections.

Five Lacrosse Players honored by the Region
