��Ӱֱ�� State College student Patrick VanHaverbeke, Wellsville, was among 17 high-achieving engineering students attending New York State colleges and universities who will receive $45,000 collectively in scholarship money from member firms of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York. The individual scholarship awards range from $2,500 to $5,000.

The Educational Foundation of ��Ӱֱ��, Inc., annually funds up to eight ��Ӱֱ�� State College students through its work-grant program, allowing students who are ineligible for work-study funds to find employment on campus. The grant is renewable on an annual basis.

Folks interested in “Dynamic Aging” attended a seminar by the same name on the ��Ӱֱ�� State College campus May 27. Nearly 120 people gathered to hear key note speaker Jo Reed talk about The Maturing of America.

Faculty and staff members who retired this year include Susan Button, Wellsville, keyboard specialist, Agriculture and Veterinary Technology; Larry Cornell, Greenwood, instructional support associate, Agriculture and Veterinary Technology;

Dr. Kellogg joined the ��Ӱֱ�� State faculty in 1970 after completing doctoral studies at the University of Rochester.  He is the author of three books on Sherlock Holmes and is a frequent contributor to popular magazines and professional journals.

Honored for 35 years was Betty Washburn, Almond, senior mail and supply clerk, Document Center.  She received a certificate and an ��Ӱֱ�� State College rosewood box to commemorate the occasion.

As part of National Car Care Month, students performed free checks of automobiles’ lights, fluids, tires, battery, belts and pulleys, and an under-hood inspection.

Fifty-six students representing nine regional high schools recently participated in the second annual ��Ӱֱ�� State Technology Challenge on the ��Ӱֱ�� State campus. This year’s event was a robotics competition. Armed with robot kits donated by ��Ӱֱ�� State College and criteria for a business plan, given to each team during a meet-and-greet event earlier in the semester, the 11 teams’ robots

��Ӱֱ�� State College recently conducted a “Take Back the Night” program on campus to raise awareness about domestic abuse. More than 80 students marched through campus chanting “Take Back the Night, ��Ӱֱ�� State Unite” following a slide show and reading of real sexual assault stories.

In keeping with its strategic plan and its departure from typical student union construction, ��Ӱֱ�� State College is not only going ahead with construction of a $33.5M student union and leadership center, but has already hired a director of civic engagement and student leadership programs. Ashley Kehoe, formerly of Chicago, assumed her position April 1.

��Ӱֱ�� State freshmen softball Angie Depew (Wellsville) and Charise Nankivell (Hornell) have been named All-Western New York Athletic Conference.  Depew was a first team selection while Nankivell was second team.

Members of the Educational Foundation of ��Ӱֱ��, Inc., Wellsville town and highway officials, family members, and ��Ӱֱ�� State College President Dr. John M. Anderson were on hand recently to dedicate Foundation Drive in the Village of Wellsville in memory of the late James Sawyer, a dedicated Ed Foundation Board member and staunch supporter of ��Ӱֱ�� State College.

Mathematics and Physics Department, ��Ӱֱ�� State College, was selected to participate in the annual Reading and scoring of the College Board’s Advanced Placement Examinations this June in Kansas City, MO.  He will be reading the calculus exams for the eighth consecutive year.

��Ӱֱ�� State College nursing students celebrated their accomplishments the Friday before commencement by attending the annual nurses' pinning ceremony.

It took two years, but three members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College faculty capped the last 24 months spent growing their hair by cutting it to donate the tumbling tresses to Locks of Love, an organization that provides hairpieces to children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnos

Youngsters from area schools toured the college's farm complex viewing milking operations and general farm activity.

Students, faculty, and staff at ��Ӱֱ�� State College recently dug into (literally) a campus-wide planting project in celebration of graduating seniors.

Five ��Ӱֱ�� State outdoor track & field athletes have raced to NJCAA Division III All-Americans while six athletes earned All-Region honors.  The Pioneer men's team finished 9th in the nation and 4th in Region III while the women were tied for 10th in the nation and 4th in Region III.

��Ӱֱ�� State College will host the 2010 Summer Sports Festival beginning on Monday, June 28th.  The summer sports festival will include the 29th annual day camp and the 42nd annual learn-to-swim program.

Nearly 900 two- and four-year graduates, their families, professors, and friends were on hand Sunday, May 16, as ��Ӱֱ�� State College honored its 99th graduating class. Presiding over the ceremony, which was held at McLane Center on neighboring ��Ӱֱ�� University’s campus, was Dr. John M. Anderson, college president.

“I am delighted that Terry has decided to return to ��Ӱֱ�� State,” said Dr. John M. Anderson, college president. “Terry previously served as a faculty member and department chair during his first stint at ��Ӱֱ�� State, where he was involved, even then, in international activities. With ��Ӱֱ�� State’s re-invigorated focus on community service outreach as well as international education, Terry will be a perfect fit!”

Students and faculty of ��Ӱֱ�� State College are working closely with Atlantic Richfield (AR), a BP-affiliated company, to design and install a solar-powered telemetry system to monitor water levels at a wetland treatment system created by AR at a former Sinclair Refinery in Wellsville.
