The WINS Club (Women in Non-traditional Studies--though membership is open to all students) recently conducted its annual fund raiser, raising $220 through can and bottle returns and coin banks, to buy presents for a local family sponsored by Steuben Rural Ministry of Canisteo.

Business Department of ��Ӱֱ�� State College, and curriculum coordinator of its financial planning program, recently served on a panel of fellow financial advisers, all of whom gave their prognostications for 2012 to the Wall Street Journal.

Gingerbread House Contest second- and third-place winners in the student (college) division included ��Ӱֱ�� State College culinary arts: baking, production and management students Sarah Herman, Alexander, and Brittney Bradley, Monticello, respectively.

The winners received a “Best Beards/Braids” tee-shirt, and a spot on an ORC trip of their choice.

Titled “Tying It All Together: An Integrative Model for Strategic Planning, Budget Allocation, and Institutional Effectiveness,” the presentation offered a best-practice model of collaborative strategic planning used at the college. Anderson and Swanson reviewed the “homegrown” creation and implementation of the college’s strategic plan which includes goals, strategies, actions, desired outcomes, key performance indicators, and actual results.

Sophomore basketball player Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) and freshman wrestler Zach Race (Fulton/G Ray Bodley) have been named the ASC Athletes of the Week by the SID office.

As their final exam, four groups of students (which comprised the class) presented their ideas and strategies for fundraising activities for the local library, the Box of Books. Each project included a base, or event; activities, advertising, volunteers, and cost analyses.

In the true spirit of the season, BP donated the funding for this community holiday event; the United Way and Salvation Army collaborated on identifying those families who could benefit from this event; and the culinary arts faculty, staff, and students volunteered their time to prepare the festive meal.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College wrestling team won both of their matches at the ASC Dual event on Saturday.  The Pioneers evened their record at 3-3 on the year with a 52-6 victory over the SUNY Cobleskill Club team and a 30-19 win over Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College wrestling team was doubled up by Niagara CCC 30-15 in a WNYAC dual match on Friday evening.  The Pioneers fall to 1-3 on the season heading into tomorrow's ASC Duals.

Pride was the dominant emotion recently as 19 mechanical engineering technology (MET) students and a smattering of agricultural business and welding technology students at ��Ӱֱ�� State College gave new life to a 1949 “left-for-dead” gasoline-powered Allis Chalmers “G” farm tractor found on Craig’s List by converting it to an all-electric-powered tractor this semester.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's basketball team defeated University of Rochester JV 60-53 to improve to 8-4 as they wrap up the 2011 portion of the season.

Seniors enrolled in the culinary arts: baking, production and management program of ��Ӱֱ�� State College recently produced a variety of baked goods, including gingerbread houses, to be used as raffle prizes for a benefit held for three-year-old Willow Jacobs,

Patrick Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) netted a game-high 31 points but it wasn't enough as #20 CC of Beaver County earned a 99-87 victory over ��Ӱֱ�� State.  The Pioneers end the 2011 portion of their season with a 5-8 mark while CCBC improves to 9-1.

The off-campus program is a partnership between the college and area businesses managed by Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services (ACES). This is the third year of the program and Rose’s Tan is the 14^th partner to join.

David L. Sengstock of Hornell has been named the new executive director of Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services, Inc. ACES is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the mission of ��Ӱֱ�� State College. ACES is located on campus and provides dining services, campus bookstore, transportation, vending, and laundry services to its customers.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College swimming team wrapped up the 2011 part of their season at Monroe CC.  The Pioneers were unable to tame the Tribunes and fell 113-77 in men's competition and 112-12 in the women's.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College wrestling team will compete in four-dual matches at the Orvis Activities Center as they wrap up the 2011 portion of their season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's basketball team used a solid press to down Roberts Wesleyan JV 49-46 to snap a four-game slide and improve to 7-4 on the year.

��Ӱֱ�� State College sophomores Camille Romero (Queens Village/Mary Louis) and Braden Kozlowski (N. Tonawanda) have been named the ASC Athletes of the Week by the SID office.

Eleven members of the Region III Champion ��Ӱֱ�� State College football team have been named to the All-Region team.  Quarterback Greg Hampton (Uniondale) was named Offensive Player of the Year while Colter Johnson (Warren, PA) was named Special Teams Player of the Year.

Dr. Cristiana Panicco, director of the Sant'Anna Institute in Sorrento, Italy, met with members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College Semester in Sorrento,’ opening study

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College wrestling team spent the weekend at Niagara CCC and picked up a dual victory and had three wrestlers place at the Thunderwolves Open.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's swimming team finished 3rd at the three-day Monroe CC Invitational.  The Pioneers scored 346 points in the competition. 

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's basketball team hung tough in the 1st half but could not overcome a early 2nd half run and fell 92-63 to Harcum College at the Monroe College Invitational.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's basketball team could not solve #1 ranked Monroe College (New Rochelle, NY) in the first day of the Mustang Invitational.  Monroe raced to a 77-37 victory.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's basketball team couldn't rally all the way back and suffered a 67-60 loss in Cleveland, OH to Cuyahoga CC.  The Lady Pioneers trailed 33-27 at half and by as many as 12 but cut it to three in the final minute, 63-60, but couldn't get any closer.

According to Head Coach Marie Dougherty, “This team has made remarkable progress since their last outing just two weeks ago. They practiced incredibly hard and really brought their ‘A’ game. We might have won top honors two weeks ago but in this show we actually rode better. I had two riders who didn’t place in their first shows win first- and second-place ribbons this time out.
