WINS Club Annual Fund Raiser

The WINS Club (Women in Non-traditional Studies--though membership is open to all students) recently conducted its annual fund raiser, raising $220 through can and bottle returns and coin banks, to buy presents for a local family sponsored by Steuben Rural Ministry of Canisteo.

Titled 鈥淭ying It All Together: An Integrative Model for Strategic Planning, Budget Allocation, and Institutional Effectiveness,鈥 the presentation offered a best-practice model of collaborative strategic planning used at the college. Anderson and Swanson reviewed the 鈥渉omegrown鈥 creation and implementation of the college鈥檚 strategic plan which includes goals, strategies, actions, desired outcomes, key performance indicators, and actual results.

As their final exam, four groups of students (which comprised the class) presented their ideas and strategies for fundraising activities for the local library, the Box of Books. Each project included a base, or event; activities, advertising, volunteers, and cost analyses.

In the true spirit of the season, BP donated the funding for this community holiday event; the United Way and Salvation Army collaborated on identifying those families who could benefit from this event; and the culinary arts faculty, staff, and students volunteered their time to prepare the festive meal.
Pioneers Down Cobleskill and Stevens Tech on the Mat

The 魅影直播 State College wrestling team won both of their matches at the ASC Dual event on Saturday. The Pioneers evened their record at 3-3 on the year with a 52-6 victory over the SUNY Cobleskill Club team and a 30-19 win over Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

Pride was the dominant emotion recently as 19 mechanical engineering technology (MET) students and a smattering of agricultural business and welding technology students at 魅影直播 State College gave new life to a 1949 鈥渓eft-for-dead鈥 gasoline-powered Allis Chalmers 鈥淕鈥 farm tractor found on Craig鈥檚 List by converting it to an all-electric-powered tractor this semester.

Parker Nets 31 in loss at CC of Beaver County

Patrick Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) netted a game-high 31 points but it wasn't enough as #20 CC of Beaver County earned a 99-87 victory over 魅影直播 State. The Pioneers end the 2011 portion of their season with a 5-8 mark while CCBC improves to 9-1.
Rose鈥檚 Tan Joins Successful Campus Town Partnership

The off-campus program is a partnership between the college and area businesses managed by Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services (ACES). This is the third year of the program and Rose鈥檚 Tan is the 14th partner to join.

Sengstock Named ACES Executive Director

David L. Sengstock of Hornell has been named the new executive director of Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services, Inc. ACES is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the mission of 魅影直播 State College. ACES is located on campus and provides dining services, campus bookstore, transportation, vending, and laundry services to its customers.

The 魅影直播 State College swimming team wrapped up the 2011 part of their season at Monroe CC. The Pioneers were unable to tame the Tribunes and fell 113-77 in men's competition and 112-12 in the women's.

Eleven members of the Region III Champion 魅影直播 State College football team have been named to the All-Region team. Quarterback Greg Hampton (Uniondale) was named Offensive Player of the Year while Colter Johnson (Warren, PA) was named Special Teams Player of the Year.

Lady Pioneers Can't Rally Back

The 魅影直播 State College women's basketball team couldn't rally all the way back and suffered a 67-60 loss in Cleveland, OH to Cuyahoga CC. The Lady Pioneers trailed 33-27 at half and by as many as 12 but cut it to three in the final minute, 63-60, but couldn't get any closer.
