The ��Ӱֱ�� State baseball team collected 27 hits in a doubleheader with Finger Lakes CC but the Lakers offense was just as productive in a sweep of a Region III Division III doubleheader, 15-10 in nine innings and 16-3.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State softball team lost two close contests to SUNY Delhi 6-4 and 9-8 as they wrapped up their weekend road trip.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State outdoor track & field team registered ten victories in day two of the Region III Championships held at SUNY Delhi. The Pioneer men finished 2nd in the standings out of five teams while the women placed 4th.

Finger Lakes CC rallied in the 5th inning of both games of a Region III Division III doubleheader to defeat ��Ӱֱ�� State 4-2 & 10-4 on Saturday afternoon. In the opener, ��Ӱֱ�� led 2-1 heading into the 5th before the Lakers scored three to take the lead for good and in the nightcap the Pioneers led 4-2 before the Lakers scored three in the 5th en route to the victory.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State softball team split a doubleheader at Columbia Greene CC on Saturday. CGCC won the opener 13-5 while the Pioneers won the nightcap 9-4.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State lacrosse team was able to come out on top of a close home contest for the first time this season. The Pioneers defeated #9 ranked Hudson Valley CC 11-10 to close out the season with a 7-9 mark. The Pioneers had lost four close home contests earlier in the season by a combined four goals.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State track & field team had two 2nd place finishes in day one of the 2012 Region III Championships held at SUNY Delhi.

Eighty-three animals have been adopted from the Hornell Area Humane Society and 18 from the SPCA Serving Allegany County in Wellsville, NY. Eighteen of the adoptions were by faculty, staff, or students since August 2011.

Erie CC defeated ��Ӱֱ�� State 12-4 in a Region III Division III baseball game played at Maple City Park on Thursday.  The second game of the doubleheader was called due to rain and poor field conditions prior to the game reaching an official game.

This year’s recipients are Tessa Boyce of Deer Isle, ME, and Alan Bieser of Westfield, PA. Southern Tier Concrete Products manufactures quality sustainable living products made from local materials, and has long been involved with ��Ӱֱ�� State’s masonry program.

Former ��Ӱֱ�� State football player Rod Streater hopes to hear his name announced from the podium of the 2012 NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall this weekend. Streater, who wore the Pioneer blue & gold in 2008 and 2009 before transferring to Temple University, wrapped up his collegiate playing career in December with a touchdown catch in Temple’s win in the New Mexico Bowl

The ��Ӱֱ�� State lacrosse team fell behind early but rallied to tie their contest with Broome CC at 8-8 late in the 3rd quarter but the Hornets scored the next four goals and held off the Pioneers attempts to rally to stay alive for the postseason with a 12-10 victory. The Pioneers are now 6-9 overall (5-8 Region III) heading into their season finale on Saturday while BCC improves to 7-8 (6-7 RIII).

Thursday afternoon's scheduled softball doubleheader between ��Ӱֱ�� State and Corning CC has been moved to Tuesday May 1st with first pitch of the doubleheader slated for 3 p.m.

Thursday's baseball game between ��Ӱֱ�� State and Erie CC has been moved to Hornell High School and will start at Noon. The field at ��Ӱֱ�� is still snow covered following Monday's storm.

Student displays from nine local school districts (Allegany-Limestone, Prattsburgh, Hinsdale, Genesee Valley Central, Addison, Andover, Portville, Canaseraga, Canisteo-Greenwood) were judged at ��Ӱֱ�� State’s 13th Annual Regional Science and Technology Fair.

The Sustainability Education and Economic Development Initiative (SEED Center) recently included ��Ӱֱ�� State in its 2012 program review, commending the zero-energy green home on the Wellsville campus were all highlighted.

President John M. Anderson was recently named a board member of the New York Campus Compact (NYCC), an association of over 79 institutions of higher education across New York State that all advocate for “active citizenship as an objective of higher education,” according to the NYCC Web site.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State track & field team heads into the postseason this weekend with top five spots in the latest NJCAA Division III poll. The men's team moved up a spot to #3 while the women dropped two spots to #5 in the weekly poll.

��Ӱֱ�� State’s Pioneer Woodsmen’s Team recently hosted the second-annual Pioneer Games on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus, and brought home a first-place victory overall with one of its four teams. A total of 19 teams with 133 participants met for competition.

This weekend's baseball four-game series vs. Finger Lakes CC has flip-flopped home dates. Saturday's DH will now be played at Finger Lakes CC with a 1 p.m. first pitch. Sunday's DH will now be played at ��Ӱֱ�� with a start of 1 p.m. (If the field at ��Ӱֱ�� is still unplayable on Sunday, the game will be played at Bolivar Richburg High School).

��Ӱֱ�� State celebrated the achievements of over 290 students at the 28^th Annual Honors Convocation. This year’s convocation also featured the presentation of Leadership through Civic Engagement Awards from the College Council to nine student leaders and faculty/staff members Mark Payne, Dr. Douglas Pierson, and Wendy Dresser-Recktenwald.

The snowstorm that hit last evening and is still in the area today has forced several changes to the baseball and softball schedules. Make sure to continue to check for future updates.

��Ӱֱ�� State and Jamestown CC battled in two tight Region III Division III contests on Sunday with the Jayhawks coming up on top 3-1 and 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers are now 6-26 (5-15 Region III Division III) on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State softball team dropped a pair to Niagara CCC in a doubleheader played in a mix of rain and sleet. NCCC won 10-5 and 16-5 to drop the Lady Pioneers to 2-20 on the year.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State lacrosse team outscored Jefferson CC 13-0 in the 2nd and 3rd quarter to earn a 22-7 victory over Jefferson CC.  The Pioneers have now won three straight and are now 6-8 overall and 5-7 in Region III play.

Brian Edwards (Neversink/Tri-Valley), David Miller (Elmira Southside), and Alex Hewlett (Wellsville) all won events as the ��Ӱֱ�� State track & field team competed at the SUNY Geneseo Open.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State baseball team trailed twice in game two of the second game of a Region III Division III doubleheader at Corning CC but was able to rally for a 4-3 victory to salvage a split. The Red Barons jumped out to an early 9-0 lead in the opener en route to a 12-2 victory in the opener.

Jamestown Olean used a four-run 5th inning in game one and a seven-run 5th inning to defeat ��Ӱֱ�� State 5-1 & 8-1 in a Region III Division III doubleheader on a beautiful Thursday afternoon.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State women's track & field team moved up one spot to the #3 position in the latest NJCAA Division III poll while the men's team slid down one spot to the #4 spot.
