��Ӱֱ�� State has long been a recognized leader in applied learning, and is now the first State University of New York (SUNY) college to require this form of “learning by doing” among its official Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLO) for every student on campus. The college has also identified the enhancement and expansion of applied learning as a primary goal in its new Strategic Plan.

As the associate director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations, Brown reports to the director of Alumni Relations and works closely with the director of Annual Giving, assisting both with the advancement initiatives and projects for the college.

��Ӱֱ�� State has once again met a goal set by SUNY for 30 percent or more of its discretionary spending to be with minority- and women-owned business enterprises. Greenthal described how difficult it can be to effectively encourage these new vendors, while juggling additional priorities.

The Performing Arts Department would like to invite you, your family, and friends to a free combined vocal and instrumental music winter concert on Friday, Dec. 2, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Orvis Activities Center’s Cappadonia Auditorium.

The college’s “Spirit of Unity” event invited all in attendance to socialize, decompress, and fill out a postcard beginning with “Dear America: I hope” stating their hope and vision for making the country better.

Following a brief explanation of the local, county, and state court systems, Damrath, first elected in 1989, told students of the satisfaction he felt serving as judge in the same community for nearly three decades.

The course was hosted by the University Police Department and taught by Officer Corwin Mackney and Campus Public Safety Officer Jennifer Chiaino, both of whom are nationally certified RAD instructors.

“The students and staff involved with this program are wonderful to work with,” Melanie Ryan said. “I am delighted with the success of the RISE program here at ��Ӱֱ�� State and look forward to celebrating our first graduating class from this program this spring.”

ACES provides dining services, campus bookstores, transportation, vending, and laundry services at ��Ӱֱ�� State. The organization also owns and manages the Lake Lodge in ��Ӱֱ�� Station.

The college’s reputation for producing job-ready candidates continues to spread, and many employers are finding graduates from the Business Department eager and ready to contribute to their teams. 

According to Glenn Brubaker, director of Facilities Operations, the demolition work on phase one of the MacKenzie Makeover project is about 60 percent complete after the physical work on the facility started in early October.

The Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) credential is a way to validate the unique knowledge and competency required of an accomplished professional in the educational facilities field.

 Recognizing ��Ӱֱ�� State’s strong commitment to civic engagement, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) has named the college to the 2015 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in several categories.

 US News & World Report’s 2017 Best Colleges for Veterans places the school in sixth place among all northern regional colleges, and third best among public colleges in the North.

The President’s Medallion was instituted in 2008 and is awarded to those who have made outstanding contributions to ��Ӱֱ�� State. The college recognizes and commemorates the efforts of supporters and advocates dedicated to the mission of ��Ӱֱ�� State.

In fact, a total of 109 employers registered for the college’s two career fairs held last month on the ��Ӱֱ�� and Wellsville campuses. These events provided an excellent networking opportunity for students, who were able to connect with and learn more about the companies they may end up working for after graduation.

The Nov. 17-19 shows will take place at 7 p.m., while a matinee performance will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 20. Tickets are $7 each for general admission, $2 each per student, and can be obtained at the ��Ӱֱ�� campus store or outside the Central Dining Hall.

Katherine Holmok, Student Senate president and a business administration major from Prattsville, said peer tutoring is a constructive way for students to learn from each other. 

It’s never too early to start planning for retirement, as proven by a group of ��Ӱֱ�� State business students who recently traveled to Rochester to learn about best practices, mistakes to avoid, and more.

A dozen World War II-era posters are on display through Nov. 25 at the Hinkle Memorial Library.
