��Ӱֱ�� State Provost Dr. Kristin Poppo has announced the dean’s list of academically impressive students for spring 2017. To be listed, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours for the semester and earned a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0.

In its inaugural year, the Archers of ��Ӱֱ�� earned a grant from USA Archery to assist with long-term program development. ��Ӱֱ�� State is one of only 26 clubs in the country to receive a collegiate archery program grant.

Executive Vice President Valerie Nixon received the Robert J. Wagner Business Officer of the Year Award at the annual conference of the State University of New York Business Officers Association (SUBOA). While Nixon serves as president of SUBOA, association members kept it a secret to surprise Nixon with their highest award.

��Ӱֱ�� State recently announced promotions for faculty and staff.

��Ӱֱ�� State has long been faithful in sending participants and having employee representatives serve on the steering committee of the leadership program. This partnership will add Jonathan Hilsher, director of the Center for Civic Engagement at ��Ӱֱ�� State, as a co-chair with Phyllis Gaerte, alumni and engagement director at Houghton College.

Retirees of ��Ӱֱ�� State were honored recently at the college’s annual recognition luncheon.

SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor James Grillo, Business Department, was honored recently for 45 years of service. 

Pioneer Spirit at the 2016 Great Race: When the rear axle on another competitor’s Model A failed, the ��Ӱֱ�� State team swept in to swap out the good rear axle from their Ford, allowing the other team to finish the race.

Those employees honored for 40 years included Sandra Gerling-Yelle, professor emeritus, Business Department; Barbara Greil, librarian, Library Services; and Charles Neal, associate vice president, Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs. 

Larry Fox received a rosewood clock/weather station and a certificate to commemorate the occasion.

​Cowburn was passionately nominated by a student who credits him with “pulling her out of the academic ashes to rise up toward success.”

He received an ��Ӱֱ�� State jacket and a certificate to commemorate the occasion.

The conference is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 30 in the Allegany Room of the Central Dining Hall of the ��Ӱֱ�� campus.
