The seventh annual ��Ӱֱ�� State Special Olympic Track & Field Spectacular was honored by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) as the Runner-up in the Special Olympics Activity Category for the second straight year. 

��Ӱֱ�� State Residence Director Robert Privitera was presented with the 2020 ��Ӱֱ�� State Faculty/Staff Spirit of Service Award at the 10th annual Celebration of Service Ceremony.

A new component of the event was a national collegiate tournament featuring archers from across the country. ��Ӱֱ�� State archers took two top honors, netting first-place finishes in both the men’s open and men’s hunter categories.

��Ӱֱ�� State College recently joined 13 other Appalachian-based colleges and universities at the 19th annual Appalachian Teaching Project (ATP) Symposium in Washington, DC, to present The Urban Design Studio’s community visualization study of the village of Bolivar.

The Allegany County Board of Legislators recently appointed Carissa Knapp, a 1998 graduate of ��Ӱֱ�� State’s liberal arts and social sciences program, as the new county administrator.

��Ӱֱ�� State College is proud of the new brand name that aims to bolster the identity of Allegany County.

Morgan’s talk focused on Burns’ young life in Ayrshire, Scotland, and influences on the poet in the years before he became a celebrated figure, first in Scotland and, in a short time, in Europe and the United States.

Among those returning were hundreds of scholars who made the dean’s list for the fall 2019 semester. To be listed, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours for the semester and earned a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0.

Programs now accredited by IACBE include: business administration (AS), marketing (AAS), sport management (AS), accounting (AAS), financial planning (BBA), technology management (BBA), business administration (BBA), and sport management (BBA).

This innovative, collaborative event invites students from all three colleges, and all disciplines, to participate in an entrepreneurial-focused event that seeks to develop creative solutions to real-world challenges. 

As the exciting world of competitive gaming continues to increase in popularity, many colleges across the nation are launching, investing in, and growing their own Esports teams.

“Every year, we have the pleasure of working with local school districts in Allegany and surrounding counties to offer these gowns and accessories free of charge to girls in need in order to make their prom night less of a financial burden,” said Sandra Burdick, event concierge at ��Ӱֱ�� State.

One way in which ��Ӱֱ�� State pays tribute to Dr. King is by honoring those who represent his spirit of service. This year, the college will host its 10th annual Celebration of Service Award Ceremony at 5 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Union University Church community room, 29 N. Main St. in ��Ӱֱ��.

��Ӱֱ�� State Electrical, Machine Tool, and Welding Technology Department Instructor Sean Kelley recently lost 40 pounds in order to be able to donate a portion of his liver to save his 1-year-old son, Sawyer, who has a genetic disorder called Alagille syndrome and needed a liver transplant.

In his spring 2020 Opening Remarks speech, President Dr. Skip Sullivan asked employees to take a moment to thank these individuals and to realize the important role that they play or have played in their own lives.

��Ӱֱ�� State students will continue to gain valuable real-world, hands-on learning experience while helping the local community this spring by working on two newly constructed welcome signs in Wellsville.

Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor emeritus of psychology at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, is the author of an article that appears in the most recent issue of Paperback Parade, a quarterly publication for paperback readers and collectors. The article is titled “Revisiting Peyton Place.”

Longtime florist and ��Ӱֱ�� State College alumna Susanne Bostrom recently saw her dream come true when she worked on floats for the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA.
